For anyone who cares - Dolphins have

#1 Postby al79philly » Sat Sep 25, 2004 11:57 am

postponed tomorrow's game.... I am sure that will be upsetting to the 3 folks who think the Dolphins are worth watching this year... No makeup date has been set.

I care......The Steelers D is my only option on my fantasy football team. This really hurts because if they had played in the rough weather conditions expected tommorow I am sure my D would have racked up the points.

I wouldn't worry about it much Ababa... I think they have to play it sometime this week and the Phins couldn't score 10 pts in perfect conditions.

I care, even though we suck, I still enjoy going to S. Fla. for a game. My hotel called this morning to say they were evacuating (Pompano Beach,) and my reservations were cancelled.

We actually had tickets and were looking forward to it. Now we have to deal with this crap again. To top it off........it is a Jewish holiday and I am supposed to be at temple today and we are supposed to be fasting today. Yeah right like I am going to not eat when a major hurricane is coming. What a crazy turn of events!

Last I heard, they had only called off the 1pm start time...there were talks that depending upon the conditions, it might be played late in the day/evening tomorrow....heard that on local stations (CBS I think it was)

Statement From Dolphins President Eddie Jones - UPDATED
September 25, 2004

"After conferring with local authorities and the NFL, in the best interest of public safety it was decided that under no circumstances will the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers be played on Sunday afternoon.

"The Commissioner's office has asked the two teams to consider the larger public safety issues to determine when the game can best be played. A final decision regarding the revised time and date of the game jointly will be made in consultation with the league, the Steelers, and government officials as the hurricane track becomes clearer."

I'm so glad that I don't live in south Florida any longer. The hype and hysteria capital of the US. It can drive you nuts.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, the Gators are playing as we speak in Gainesville, and the entire central florida area was open for business. We're watching it, but not going crazy. I've heard that the Miami/FTLaud/WPB stations have been going all day on the storm.

I was down there during Andrew, so I can understand concern, but the way some media people overreact down there is really embarrassing. And the way the general populace just goes along with it is sad.

I saw someone mention they were watching WSVN 7. That's a big mistake. The storm will be two states north and they will still be predicting a South Florida hit.

The hype and hysteria occurs EVERYWHERE! The media creates most of the hype in this country. S. FL is no worse than anywhere else. The media will latch on to anything they can in the name of ratings.

This sucks, I had tickets, but can't get there on time. I was counting on them moving it to Monday, then I could have driven down there today and tomorrow afternoon.
