Pics of "my kids" from school.....growing 2000 Poi

Hope some of you may enjoy seeing our Poinsettia crop at the vocational school I work......Ornamental Horticulture. We teach 3 main areas; Landscape Design, Floral Design, and Greenhouse Production. Each first year student learns in each area......they may come back a second year and focus on only one particular section. We have 48 students this year; half are a.m. and half are p.m.

Our Poinsettias came in as cuttings the second day of school (Aug.) Each student is responsible for 25 plants.....and the 2nd. year kids nurture the balance of them. We grow many different crops......and this one is the trickiest! Getting them to "color up" at the right time can be challenging, but it's a great project for the kids.

Here's the link.....and you can also get to some of last year's pics under "work related". Hope you enjoy!.....p

I put up a sign in the greenhouse that says......

"It looks like a greenhouse,
and smells lik a greenhouse,
but it's really a place
where PEOPLE can grow!"

Hi Petal-Pusher. Congrats on the projects, and so you know, I am always impressed by those who are educators..especially hands-on projects. Your students are lucky indeed. Thanks for taking the time to share with us, but more importantly, for investing in the lives of some young people.
