How many systems will form in october?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sun Sep 26, 2004 6:11 pm

Well I say that 2 named systems will form in october in the climo favored areas that normally they form the western caribbean,GOM and western atlantic.Maybe one subtropical system may form from those 2 that I say will form in october.I based my down numbers of 2 because of the dry phase or not favorable MJO that has spilled into the atlantic and the mild warming of el nino 3-4 that may also contribute to cap the rest of the season but because what has happened in this 2004 season which has brought many records you never know if october will be as active as august.

I included the no systems will form in october option because I know that many of you are excausted already to see one system after another and another reason that I include that option is because of unfavorable factors that may cap the rest of the season.

I voted 4 systems, which is probably being conservative.

I think atleast one or two more TC's should form as the odds favor that during a busy season. Also, upper level shear is still somewhat favorable, which should hold out for the short term atleast.

I voted 2. Hopefully if they affect the U.S. they'll be tropical storms and not bother Florida.

2 systems, I think..
And none will be major, nor make a bad impact on land (let alone CONUS)
OK so it may be wishful, but I think the atmospheric fuels is depleted.

I voted one as I believe a pattern flip to cooler all the way to the gulf is coming in a couple of weeks.

I thought 3 was reasonable for October; thinking 2 is too few. After taking into account others views (as I often do with polls here)... I ended up choosing 4.

This poll is easily one of the, if not the most popular this board has ever seen in the nearly two years. There have been some interesting non-weather related polls in the off topic forum. BTW, the board's two year anniversary is 11 days away.

Agree 100% with you Tom about how many votes this poll has and that is what I wanted to happen and let's continue to do the same when other polls are posted to see how the members think about any of the questions of those polls.
