Texas Safe for rest of the Season

It looks like we dodged another hurricane season along the Upper TX Coast. Ivan II had no affect on us. Sure a few storms have formed in OCT and directly affected us but they are very few and far between. The Westerlies continue to increase making the NW GOM safer each day from tropical systems.

We definitely feel your pain in Florida. We hope and pray there will not be anymore threats for the rest of the season.

In the last day or so, I read a comment from a NWS forecaster in Fort Worth who suggested that, indeed, the westerlies were sinking lower and lower across the U.S. and that they would be impacting Texas weather more significantly in the next two weeks.

That usually spells the end of any Texas threat. We'll see if climatology rules!

With the analysis of the westerlies, it SOUNDS like you MAY have dodged a bullet, but the season is not over.
