Actually two large ships, probably in the 400-500 foot range ended up on the other side of Hwy 90, from the Gulfport harbor... not several miles, more like 1/5 of mile max... they had to cut up the large oceah going ships in pieces to remove them.
A medium size tug boat (~70 feet) also ended up on the north side of Hwy 90 from the harbor, the owner of the beach front property kept the tug right where it landed, painted it all up, concreted it in the ground, and made a tourist gift shop right next to it...

Wow! I remember seeing the Tug boat in person one time when I was a kid, but I never heard of the other huge ships. 400-500 feet, boy that must've been an awesome site to behold! I'd love to see pictures if there is a link.
