So far... CONUS impact...

Charley(3) was compact, but powerful and fast.
Frances(4) was big, slow, widespread, not very powerful and took lots of us off-guard.
Ivan(1) was powerful, average speed of movement, did major coastal damage, lots of water way inland.
Jeanne(2) was big, fairly slow moving, widespread, pummeled coastal as well as inland with heavy wind and rain, but we were ready!

And no one can remember any other weather events.

Some will say they weren't ready for Jeanne because of the systems loop, uncalled for write off and run for the Florida east coast.

Ah, but emergency systems response was/is great.
fewer trees to do major damage to power grid,
supplies were not as scarce.

Although some of us were off-guard, we had the systems in place from the previous 3.
Florida has now officially "written the book" for hurricane preparation/response.
Many, many years of lessons have been learned in the past 2 months.

I understand where you're coming from. That makes sense, too. I was coming from it from a more geographical standpoint. :)

ColdFront,
I forgot to mention, that I was one who was very concerned about the number of people who didn't know about the storm, as well as the ones who thought it was "no big deal".
While we were "surprised" the systems were in place for everyone to weather it well.
I'm actually stunned at how little impact Jeanne seemed to have on life in central florida vs. Charley and Frances.
Jeanne has made storms "old hat"
I wonder what hat will do for readiness on the part of the average citizen, in the future.

I will go definitely with Jeanne without thinking about the other ones just because of one main factor: Too many people died because of the storm.
