Why hurricane season is like the Christmas season

#1 Postby HurricaneJoe22 » Mon Sep 27, 2004 11:29 pm

Why Hurricane Season is Like the Christmas Season:

Decorating the house (boarding up windows)

Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season (camping gear, flashlights)

Last minute shopping in crowded stores

Regular TV shows pre-empted for "specials"

Family coming to stay with you

Family and friends from out-of-state calling

Buying food you don't normally buy ... and in large quantities

Days off from work

Candles

At some point you know you're going to have a tree in your house.

You forgot about being able to kiss under the mistletoe, we had tons of it, everywhere. We could get to it without a ladder for the first time ever. The tree it had been growing in is now at ground level.

YOU MIGHT BE A FLORIDIAN IF:

#4 Postby tronbunny » Tue Sep 28, 2004 9:31 am

More Hurricane humor:

YOU MIGHT BE A FLORIDIAN IF:

YOU EXHIBIT A SLIGHT TWITCH WHEN INTRODUCED TO ANYONE NAMED IVAN,
FRANCES, CHARLEY OR JEANNE

YOUR FREEZER NEVER HAS MORE THAN $20 WORTH OF FOOD IN IT

YOU'RE LOOKING AT PAINT SWATCHES FOR THE PLYWOOD COVERING YOUR WINDOWS,
TO
ACCENT THE HOUSE COLOR

YOU THINK OF YOUR HALL CLOSET/SAFE ROOM AS "COZY"

YOU TOO HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER

YOU ARE PUTTING TOGETHER A COLLAGE OF SHINGLES FROM ROOFS IN YOUR
NEIGHBORHOOD

YOUR STREET HAS 3 "NO WAKE" SIGNS

YOU RECOGNIZE PEOPLE AT THE FREE ICE, PLYWOOD, AND WATER LINES

YOU STOP TO CLAP AND WAVE WHEN YOU SEE THE CONVOY OF POWER TRUCKS

YOUR THERAPIST REFERS TO YOUR CONDITION AS "GENERATOR ENVY"

AND FINALLY YOU MIGHT BE A FLORIDIAN IF YOU HAVE ASKED YOUR RELATIVES
UP
NORTH TO SEND YOU THE REAL ESTATE CLASSIFIEDS

And... You look forward to the season all year long... but the day after it ends exclaim " Thank goodness, that's over! I'm exhausted!!!"
