Another good topic from me.. :)

I spent a lot of time yesterday reminiscing to my HS days.. Remembering the girls I dated, the 1's I wish I would have dated and just wishing I could see some people 1 more time..

Here's the question.. Do you have anyone you wish you could see 1 more time or anything in HS or school in general that you didn't do that you wish you have..

There are a bunch of things.. I'll elaborate on them later

Well...not in those ways. However I do now wish I hadn't met my ex-g/f to begin with...what a witch she was!

Knowing what I know now and understanding what I do, heck yeah! I'm not as shy as I used to be either, so I'd love to go back and talk with certain people now.

John - I don't think we have enough space to cover all the things we all wish we could have done differently in HS. Take a random poll at any mall, with people over the age of 25 say. And you'll get many, many answers I predict. My own HS senior wishes she could go back to Freshman year and do a few things differently already! Honest.

For me, the one thing I wish I could change was not having a single date with my ex-husband. If I could change just that, so many things in my life would have been changed. I have a few others too - studying harder, getting better grades, becoming more active in clubs and after school activities, taking the SAT (I skipped that since I didn't want to go to college), going to college right after HS.

John - we went on many college campus visits with our daughter this past Spring. Most HS students begin this process in Junior year and continue on into their Senior year if they're still undecided where to apply to. But as I sat thru many, many talks about what each college looks at (test scores, GPA's, extra curricular activites) it began to dawn on me perhaps the time to visit a college or two should take place in 8th Grade. That is when you can possibly reach your 'not yet HS student' and convince them that it is in their best interest to get good grades and get involved in their HS years. Parents can say this all they want but when a college administrator says it, it really sinks in. Nina's wishes now she would have strived for a 3.5 each quarter. There were a few hovering near 3.0 but it's not the end of the world. Unless you want a specific school that requires high test scores and/or GPA's, which she does of course.

Sophomore year- I had the most God awful haircut imaginable!! :) I still have the yearbook picture to prove it. I would change hairstylists.

Seriously, I would have taken more music classes and been involved in the choir.

There are days that I wish I would have changed or things that I did. Like not bickering with a teacher on why she changed my schedule. Now that I am older and about to graduate from college, I understand why my teachers were changing my schedule. I may not have seen that during that particular moment, but I understand now. They were looking to the future (long term) on what students they thought were going to go further into secondary education. I was satisfied with my gpa (and being within in the top 15%) but like many others, I strived for the 4.0 (as do most students)... had to settle with a 3.8 at graduation. (Side note... summer semester 2002 I finally received that covenanted 4.0)

Another thing that I recognized about a year ago was the fact that I was arguing with my mom and step-dad. I thought the grass was greener on the other side (my dads) and due to that obligation, I spent almost 3 years with him.... It was until the summer of hell, that I realized what my dad was doing to my future successes. (long story.. dont' ask!) So, I moved back in with my mom and have been satisfied with my decision. (I couldn't afford living in an apartment around campus... hence the reason living at home and the citizen/soldier status)

I'm a senior and I can think of a lot of things to go back and do. But I believe that a lot of things go right in high school as well. Starting this year we began whole grade sharing with another school. My senior year and we had to go do this, as most peopel thought that this will probably turn out bad. Well, I have made so many new friends, including a girlfriend now ;) haha...and with it being almost a 65% - 35%, the 35% being my "old" school, you would think that not many people would be chosen from my school. But it turns out that homecoming canidates were right on that percantage, 3 people from my school, 7 from the other. But, the great news is :D:D I was chosen as a King Canidate!!!

I've connected up with a few friends using Classmates.com. I was so surprised that folks thought I was a real goody-two-shoes, sweet but not a snob. (Whew! Made up for that since then...I think my picture is next to "cynic" in Webster's) Not allowed to date and all that until I was 16, which is normal, but I was a senior!!
