Regarding my son and your prayer request, again, I am stunned by the generosity of the spirit of those around me. My humble and heartfelt thanks to all.

No thanks necessary...it's all thanks to God!

Now...most of you aren't aware of this but back on July 31, I was taken to the hospital where a urinary tract infection was diagnosed...anyway, this morning I'm going to the doctor to find out what has happened since then...also, a friend of a friend of mine named Chad Walker got into a very serious car accident around 2;45pm yesterday...still don't know about his condition but he's at University of Cincinnati Hospital...pray for him too...as well as his family...

Wonderful news Alicia! So happy to hear he's home now.

Jeremy - good luck with your doctor's appt. I think I read about your friend's car accident on a local news site. That's so sad - I'm praying he recovers completely. He's lucky to be alive from what I heard.

You are right Mary...this is what she read:

A Conner High School student is in serious condition Tuesday morning after crashing his car during a game of "cat and mouse" with another car.

Police said the teenager had just finished school Monday, when he lost control on Graves Road near Hebron and spun off the road into a ditch.

The victim was taken to the hospital by Air Care

His name has not been released.

http://www.wcpo.com/news/2004/local/08/17/teen_ax.html

It's really kinda sad he was playing a game with his car...but teens don't know any better...BTW I just called the hospital to inquire about him, but they would not tell me anything...anyway the latest on me is that they're prescribing one new med and upping the dosage on another...will let you know how it goes...

You're right Jeremy, teens don't know any better or more accurately think the unthinkable won't happen to them. Sadly it does and this past year in the Tri-state area, it's been especially so - teen accident after accident. Most of the victims didn't make it. When I heard this story I thought - oh no, school just started! Going to be a long year. I don't know what the answer is. I do know that allowing Ohio teen drivers to be 15.5 to qualify for their temps is just crazy! I disagree and held Nina off until she was 2 months away from turning 16. She wasn't happy with me but at least she's a good driver now.

Keep us posted on his condition Jeremy.

I spoke with my youth minister, a chaplain with the local sheriff's dept., he says Chad will be okay...he's darn lucky to survive!

Yes he is darn lucky to be alive. After Chad recovers Jeremy, you may want to encourage him to give talks to other HS students. Not necessarily his own school but other schools across the Tri-state area would probably be honored if he spoke to students at assemblies. If I were an administrator I'd make time for him. I'm sure he could tell them what it felt like when he crashed. I imagine he thought it was the end? OMG, I would have thought so. All the talking in the world from parents and teachers won't slow drivers down or encourage them to drive safer, but when a peer talks, I think teens listen.

Well, that's just my 2 cents on the matter. Something truly positive could come out of this near-tragedy.

Heck, I'd do it...remember, I too was in a car crash almost 4 months ago...but I definitely agree that he should do it...

Could you all say alittle prayer for Marty? He's on his way with a few of his buddies to Ohio. They're stopping at the Football Hall of Fame and Marty is going to a place that has been recommended to have a CB installed on his bike along with headphones in his helmet. He's not going to back until Tuesday. There's rain and thundershowers predicted (and occurring) right now for NJ and PA. The rest of his trip should be fine.

Thanks guys!

Since I have been as busy as a yellow jacket getting prepared for fall semester, I have not updated much.

Code: Select all

I have a prayer request for my step aunt. Though she does not look at this board, I would rather not mention her name.

My step aunt was fired from her bank job, a job she has had for a long time. I am not sure on the particulars, but her bank is so understaffed making the workload a little demanding at times.

The way I hear it she made a few mistakes on some files/paperwork and was terminated.

She is the main bread-winner of the family of four. Recently, her husband (which I prefer to withhold teh name) was let go along with others from a golf course which he helped start up some 16 years ago. The course was sold, and full-timers were let go. The husband works at an exhibit (like for conventions) moving company or something similar to that; however, he does not have benefits yet. My step aunt had the healthcare benefits.

She has been hired on at another banking institution. This occurred several weeks ago. This is good news! :)

I am afraid that I may have to throw in the towel with my friend Emily! She doesn't seem to want to talk to me, and who could blame her. I was lucky that she went out with me 4 times. She is just to busy, but also I think she is trying to avoid me.

Thanks for your prayers, and maybe someone who is much more responsible, caring and compassionate will come along, who does not leave me out to dry.

If only I knew then what I know now! Okay, I was not aware she had a boyfriend until a couple weeks later after I posted this. We remained friends, and I actually hung out with her, her boyfriend and soem of her other friends a ton this past summer, particuarly around Independence Day.

This uncovered the reason why God, though he allowed me to go on my first date ever--Emily being my first ever--he did not want me to become this girl's boyfriend (or as she puts it with her current boy friend(s), "boy toy"). I agree.

I found out that Emily has been very lazy, she does not care about anyone else but "what's in it for me", she has had a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) violation this summer, and she smokes. While I knew this way back when I met her, I assumed she was trying to quit and you could purchase it LEGALLY. Well, sometimes she would joke about smoking illegal substances and the like. I rather not cloat my lungs with second-hand smoke, but as long as she is in the law, I don't mind going out with the group every once and awhile. Like in an airport, jokes about terror, bombs, guns, etc are treated seriously, how can I assume that Emily is just joking about the illegal stuff? Not going to take any chances.

The positive for me, I start Fall semester at a larger university like setting Aug 23. Opportunities to meet people who care about school yet still have fun WELL within the law abound.

So that is a VERY LONG update on Emily and other stuff going on.

Prayer Warriors:

Please pray for a newborn named Grace. She was born yesterday and went into cardiac arrest. Her valves are reversed so she's on blood thinners and a heart/lung bypass machine. Her mother, ill with pre-eclampsia, was induced at 38 weeks so Grace is a healthy weight, 8 pounds. The baby is in our Children's Hospital and the mom is still recovering at another hospital in the area, from a C-section. An ultrasound is ordered for tomorrow but it doesn't sound good. Now they've discovered the baby has blood leaking in the brain. If it's minimal, and they can stabalize her, then they could eventually go in surgically and repair the valves. If the bleeding is extensive or more than they expected, then she'll be disconnected from the bypass machine, allowing nature to take it's course. Which of course means, she'd pass away. Such a sad, sad story. Grace is my sister-in-law's best friend's baby.

We've done wonders with our prayers my Storm2K family so I'm asking for you to pour them on tonight.

Thanks.

We have you covered here. Prayers for Grace, and prayers as well for others of you who need support. It is nice to know that real prayers from real people are part of the Storm2k family.

A special prayer request for a lifelong family connection we have back in Illinois. Our friends have lost their 20 year old granddaughter to an auto accident in Illinois.

She apparently fell asleep while crossing the major bridge on I-39 near LaSalle, hit the side of the bridge and ended up sideways across lanes of traffic. At that point she was still ok..got out of the car while an approaching van driver swerved to miss the car and instead hit her...knocking her over the guardrail on the bridge. Moments later, a semi-trailer also plowed into her car at high speed.

The family wonders if she would have survived the truck collision had she stayed in the vehicle...but that is a question they will ask themselves for the rest of their life.

A sad loss for a family with a history of many sad losses.

Please pray for them.

Steve - praying for your friend's loss tonight also. Such a sad story. Having lost a nephew at age 16 two years ago, this is a pain that you can't get over. You learn to live with it and replace the tears with smiles of memories, but it takes lots of time.

Good news about baby Grace. She's holding her own tonight and off the heart/lung bypass machine! The brain bleed isn't as bad as they feared and will have to heal before they do surgery, which has to be done. This little baby is a fighter I'm told. It's still touch and go, but things are looking up from what I was told to expect tonight. So to those that prayed for this newborn baby, I thank you very much.

Thanks Johnathan! I feel so bad for that family. They knew going into the C-section the mom had severe pre-eclampsia but had absolutely no idea they baby had a heart defect. Until the minute she was born. Makes me count my blessings with my daughters. Both were born very healthy.

Thanks again for the prayers David and Johnathan and everyone.
