Tape purported to be from bin Laden urges suicide attacks
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 8 — A new cassette tape purported to be from Osama bin Laden urges suicide attacks and calls on Muslims to rise up against Arab governments that support the attack on Iraq. In the audiotape, bin Laden’s supposed voice urges the faithful to attack the governments of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Unlike previous such tapes, this one had a single theme — suicide attacks.

RE: Bin Laden
Ah, I figured a thread about this would be around here someplace....here it is -
I'm surprised that not too many people had opinions regarding this because it's an important development. Since bin Laden is most likely alive and moving between Afghanistan and Pakistan, then he still is directing Al Qaeda activities. He has referenced recent events. Operation Enduring Freedom is now ongoing in Afghanistan to get our operatives into the groove and find this guy, but in the meantime he's still a threat both overseas and within the U.S. Do not underestimate this guy. He is a trained civil engineer by trade; he has big bucks from his family's construction business supporting him plus other financial providers world over. Although funding sources have been tightened and some removed, he is still drinking from the cash cow so to speak. His message is being heard by millions of people around the world - you don't think there will be some who take him up on his offer? We've got to send in the Special Forces to find him. This guy does not keep his operations in one country - he is a world threat.

Couldn't have said it better myself M2!!!
I fear too many have forgotten what happened 9/11 and have discounted OBL's influence around the world. I will not go to large gatherings(usually don't anyway)specifically because of this type of threat. Call me paranoid or whatever you want, but I do not want to test fate not can I afford to go to most events that are mass gatherings.

Well Dave, it's not necessarily large gatherings, but just regular things like going to work or going shopping, going out to eat - normal events - that could be turned into horror stories on Page 1. You remember all of the specific threats & alerts that were issued since 9/11 and I'm not going to list them again as they're far too many and why get everyone's BP up on a Wednesday? The greatest impact, since we're securing all the high-visibility stuff now could be the normal, everday things that we do without thinking much about it, therefore we're vulnerable by being complacent. It's definitely not paranioa, it's awareness and vigilance. Picture this: you leave your house to go the mall by way of a freeway interchange that crosses throught the center of town over a waterway or something. You may stop at your favorite eatery, go to the grocery store, pass some farms or stockyards. Do you ever do any of this? Do we? Of course! Each one of those is a potential threatening situation and we cannot stop living....but we can consider the consequences. Chilling, isn't it?
