Someone tried to steal my car Saturday Night

#1 Postby HurricaneGirl » Mon Oct 04, 2004 3:02 pm

Some crackhead in my neighborhood took a screwdriver to the lock on my driver's side door and pried it out but did not get all the way in.

I think it happened about 3:00 in the morning because my neighbor saw someone walking towards my car but he thought he was walking home.

There is a new girl who moved in last month and apparently this guy and some other people were at her house doing drugs until all hours of the night.

I called the cops on Sunday when I noticed my lock hanging off the door. The paint was all chipped around it too.

My car was the only one in the complex that had been messed with.

Our landlord is going to kick the sorry girl out because she doesn't have her rent this month or the security deposit. He let her move in with out the deposit, but she was supposed to pay it this month. She doesn't have that either.

Looks like I'm going to have to invest in an alarm system. I guess it is something I should have done sooner. I've never had anyone try to break into my car before.

Just hook up your car to a battery that you can turn on/off remotely. anyone who touches it (including you if you forget) will get the ever-livin crap zapped outta them...

I'm sorry to hear about that HG. Are you going to turn that in to your insurance? I'm glad that the girl is getting evicted.

Did you ever see that commercial where a guy approaches his junker of a car and then pulls off a cover, revealing a cool sports car underneath?

Lets just say that my car more closely resembles the first car. That's my insurance policy.

I sort of like wiring up the car to a battery, but I'm sure that someone will sue you for this one...

What is very effective is a hidden "kill switch" that needs to be activated before you can start the car either with a key or via hotwiring it. Anyone who does not know the "secret" to starting you car can't do it. You may get a discount on your insurance for having one of these installed.

Of course that still does not stop someone from doing a bunch of damage trying to get in to your car (prying out locks, breaking windows, etc.) Hope you have some type of comprehensive insurance because this can be expensive.

It's never nice to get broken into. I've had it happen and it makes you feel really horrible--as it should because it is a violation of trust and a reminder of vulnerability. I feel bad for you.

That kill switch is a good idea but not half as fun to watch!! I know, I know. I'm being mean-spirited. But heckfire! folks should be able to protect their property. I personally like those car protection devices that sense when someone's too close and they pronounce in this big voice STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR. LOL I LOVE it!

Im sorry, but If I had my car hooked to a battery, and someone tried to break in it, and it shocked the crap outta them, they cannot even think about sueing me. I would slap the livin crap outta them to the point they wouldnt be able to sue. I mean, that's something I would take to the courts, then sue the carjacker for trying to sue me. Its my property, and I will protect it however I want. I have high voltage gates around my house, so im well safe.

Yes, I love that commercial! It's great! :)

Just got off the phone with my insurance company and I have to pay a $250 deductible. I should complain to my landlord and have him pay it because he let that drug addict move in.

It's his fault the crackhead was there trying to steal my car. He should have never let that girl move in without paying the deposit.

My car is a 1995 but it is in pretty good shape because I've always taken care of it.

I just remembered... I can't do that because my cat likes to lick my car in the morning when there is dew all over it!!

I could just see him now with his hair all standing up on end....MMMMRROOOOWWWW!!

I like the "STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR" idea! :D
