Missing family found - tried to flee from Ivan

#1 Postby alicia-w » Tue Oct 05, 2004 7:52 am

They found the plane of the Pensacola-area family that was trying to evacuate from Ivan in Mississippi. Sadly, the family was inside and there are no survivors.

See http://www.weartv.com for details.

Not to harp on the father but he broke two of the cardinal rules:

He didnt file a flight plan

and

He didnt tell anyone where they were going.

Sad and totally unnecessary deaths. Especially those kids.

Agreed Alicia - I posted the same sentiment when this story first broke. There is absolutely no excuse for negligence. The flip side of that being "maybe there was a plane malfunction and if he had filed a flight plan, told people where he was going, the outcome may have still been the same."

Too many "ifs" I guess. If he had told someone where they were headed, the search may not have taken a week.

Tragic, Tragic, Tragic.

How horrible! At least they were found so now the family can have closure.
