whats going on with el nino

#1 Postby iluvseashore » Wed Oct 06, 2004 1:29 pm

I have looked at noaa site but really didin't know what I was doing.
I only started looking at models, sat loops etc. when I joined the board so I am very new at all of this. My concern is that if el nino ends up strong we stand a good chance here in FL of having a wet winter from what I remember in 98 as well as all of the freaky tornado outbreaks that year in Feb. I know its not suppose to be a very strong one if at all but we don't need a wet winter. Any predictions on the conditions this el nino will bring?

If El-Nino forms, it will be weak, similar to 2002. We are in a period when weaker and shorter lived El-Nino's will form. The cycle began in 1995 and continue for the next 10-20 years.

Correct TropicalWeatherWatcher. Here in DC, it was 80 degrees in January and February, and if I remember correctly, only a few inches of snow fell during that winter in DC...
