The 8 p.m. NHC Disc. clearly notes the BOC/GOM disturbance/system will head for Florida as it moves North and then East. Possibly a Hybrid/tropical system. Here is another excerpt:

A 1010 MB LOW HAS DEVELOPED JUST E OF TUXPAN MEXICO NEAR 21N96W
ALONG A STATIONARY SFC TROF WHICH HAS BEEN JUST OFFSHORE THE
MEXICAN COAST FOR THE PAST 2 DAYS. SATELLITE IMAGERY HAS
SUGGESTED THAT A LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION HAS BECOME BETTER DEFINED
DURING THE DAY...

hmmm, that excerpt doesnt give a long term forecast...Im not jumping on the FL bandwagon just yet....

A BROAD UPPER LEVEL HIGH IS
CENTERED OVER THE SW YUCATAN PENINSULA AND IS BRINGING ABUNDANT
MOISTURE FROM THE W GULF TSTMS EWD TOWARDS FLORIDA AND THE W
ATLC. IT SHOULD BE FAIRLY WET ALONG THE GULF COAST NOW THROUGH
THE WEEKEND AS THE SFC LOW MOVES N AND INTERACTS WITH THE
STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY...MAYBE PRODUCING A HYBRID-TYPE
SUBTROPICAL SYSTEM.

Luis, I was emphasizing the Florida aspect, considering what Floridians have gone through already this season. Not trying to just duplicate. Thanks for pointing it out, though.

Doesn't matter if it will be hybrid or tropical since at this moment the main threat is rain. I think from the Florida Panhandle to New Orleans should be expecting a minimal or moderate (sub)tropical storm during the weekend or Monday.

I'm a little unfamiliar with hybrid systems. Do these things bring the usual tropical storm conditions: plenty of rainfall with gusty winds?

we have been getting rain from this all day here in south east florida! may sound nuts, but I can see it coming in from the bands. Yuck!!!
