Water temps hot in SW GOM.....

at Buoy 42002 Southeast of Sabine, Tex. water temperature is 84 + degrees. Pressure still high at 30, but that's pretty far north of system.

Looks like very favorable conditions for our Matthew Wannabe. I predict a strong TS at the least.

Yeh it could get to maybe a strong tropical storm, but it will have to stay west of 90, because east of 90 the waters are below 80.

If it wants to develop it will have to do so at a little faster rate otherwise it will encounter cooler temps.

Would it really? The water temps for Jeanne for a while were about the same as the temps east of 90W eventhough that was caused by upwelling, the temps are very much the same.
