Not gone yet....lol...thanks...I'm sure it'll be a fun trip...its all about networking this week, cocktail parties, dinners, etc...You'll find me in the spa a good deal of the time also! MGM has a fabulous spa! Hopefully it'll be hot and sunny and I can come home with a good tan...been too long since we ventured to the beach and got some sun!
I almost cancelled for myself today tho....I'm very nervous about leaving the kids for the first time since we've lived in Cali...the neighbors are very nice that they are staying with, but as a mom I'll always worry, (too much). Keep my babies in your prayers this week, if you think about it, thanks.
It was cold enough to burn a fire in our outdoors fireplace the last two eveings...still hot in the daytime though. I love the aroma of wood burning...we have a gas fireplace indooors and its just not the same!
Going to sit down and have myself a cup of cocoa now...
Have a great Monday!

It's only in the low 60s / upper 50s at night. It isn't that cold yet. A year or two ago it was 31 degrees at my apartment not too far from where I live right now. Now THAT is cold for a (slightly inland) coastal area!
Just checking in before I retire for the night / morning. Yep I have not gone to bed yet. I have been busy catching up on the work that I have fallen behind with on my forum / web site. I still have a ways to go but it is getting there.

Here is the diagnosis of the MRI.... Damaged Disk and Pertruding disk (aka Herniated). Lumbar disks 4-6 are the disks of observation. I have a doc appt with the Physicians assistant to a Neuro Doc on Wednesday (hopefully, I can move the appt.... it is at the worst absolute time.) I have a required fieldtrip lab right smack dab during the appt... will have to call and reschedule to a different time tomorrow. My doc wants an immediate appt due to the damage of the spinal cord. Hopefully, I can postpone surgery til after my finals are done. (if not, do surgery on a Thurs that way I some time to heal before I drive up to campus for my class & fieldtrip to a pollution plant around Green Bay.)

It's been a bear getting everything back up to speed after my computer was down for two weeks. I didn't crash until 11:30 Monday morning and didn't get out of bed till 10:15 PM.

Shannon - please investigate the need for surgery thoroughly. I have no experience with back trouble but I've seen enough surgeries go horribly wrong, to question ANY surgery these days. My best to you....
We have a Frost Warning until 9 a.m. in Cincinnati. Oh no...what will we do. These warnings make me laugh but I realize various businesses depend upon notices like this (nurseries, produce, etc.). Still, it does make me laugh, since you'd think anyone in those particular fields would know to watch wx in October! Well anyways, it's 39 officially in Cincinnati but at my house it's 43. I'm ready for Fall and Winter. You'll never catch me grumbling about cooler temps.

Shannon, sorry to hear about your back trouble. Do take care, all right?
Good morning Mary!!! I think we need to add a few more logs in the stove.

I will see what the Neuro Surgeon says tomorrow (Weds). Here is what I know. L4 is Herniated. L5 & L6 are damaged (probably due to the herniation of L4.) I'm under the best Neuro Surgeon in the Fox Valley... and will get everything figured out (whether I can still do physical training or not...extremely doubtful though) Surgery is unfortunately the only option... the docs dont' want any more damage to the vertebrae than they already have.

Shannon, I hope you get your back problems
resolved - do be careful about what you are
actually doing with your back! Look for other
means of treatment before surgery, as
Miss Mary suggested! Take care of
you, gal!
It's actually dropped down in the upper 40°F
range here, in the mornings, but, this old cow
refuses to turn the heat on. I've not even
broke out the jacket, yet! But, I'll
sit around the PBS just to talk to you
good people, and let Crouton steal an
occasional KK from me...

Man my back HURTS!
Badly. In fact it's killing me to sit here and type this, and I still have to get home. Dreading that, because if I move, I'm sure I'm gonna make this worse. Other than that, its an okay day. I'll be back later, if my back holds, if not the next message anyone is gonna get from me is gonna come from somewhere other than me typing, because I'll be sitting in the ER.

here is the diagnosis from the neurosurgeon
L5 is mildly herniated...the disk between L5 and S1 is a degenerative disk. the herniation is not severe enough for surgery, but the docs are watching it. Physical therapy is order right now and if that pain gets worse, then an epidural right in the L5 disk. surgery is the last option... only if the herniated disk gets worse where it is completed herniated... then it will be surgery, but I have a long way to go before that.

Shannon - well I'm breathing a sigh of relief for you! Believe you me, you don't want surgery unless it's necessary! I have two worst case scenario's for you....my husband's mother went in for open heart surgery, was recovering fine and wham, 3 days later she began bleeding internally. They couldn't open her up fast enough to save her. Later it was revealed there had been a complication during the surgery and while we all thought she was recovering fine, actually she wasn't. Several family members were going up that evening to visit her, one was her husband who had just casually walked up to her floor after dinner in the cafeteria. To be greeted by a code blue situation. Next, Jim's brother had open heart surgery at age 37 to replace 2 heart valves (a defect from birth we didn't know about until he had a heart attack at 35). He came thru surgery fine and was home recovering, when 10 days after surgery he had a massive stroke. He is now permanently disabled, partially paralyzed on one half of his body. He used to work full time as an attorney and part time as a fightfighter/EMT. Now he volunteers for a law firm, work he can do from his pc at home. Thank goodness he kept up his disability insurance.
So when I say I've witnessed surgeries go horribly wrong, I'm not joking!
Glad you're trying other options first before surgery.
Mary
