SST's in the Gulf...

Still rather warm. The system is in the HIGHEST sst's right now:

Makes it look a little more ominous.

(hit "yes" twice if your system pops up about security warnings - this is a Navy site and it really is OK)

What is the circle thing w/arrows around the 27_WE, just above the 25N line? (be kind...I'm a newbie).

Warm eddy...just a small circulation that is warmer than the surrounding water. I can't see the image for some reason, but that's what WE stands for.

One of the things I find interesting is the lines defining things like the gulf stream and watching over time the changes. That "Loop Current" tongue has been working northward over time, for example.
