Sort of surprised.....
that a Special Tropical Disturbance Statement (STDS) hasn't been issued yet, considering the proximity to land. But maybe they don't think it's all that tropical yet?

They didn't find anything.
A broad low with a few squalls is nothing worse than your afternoon thunderstorm.

Actually, I plotted the recon obs and there was a very tight circulation - but only at 10-20 kts. With no convection near the center (and Dvorak of 1.0), it's hard to justify calling it a TD. However, I have no doubt that the same low over the NW Gulf lease areas would have been called a TD for political reasons. It'll be a TD tomorrow, and probably a weak TS before it moves ashore.

I don't know about the recon but here in baton rouge it is quite clear that there is a llc. I was outside watching the clouds during the latest downpour of rain and theclouds are streaming northwest quite rapidly. The last time I observed clouds moving like this was during the back to back storms of Isidore and Lilli. I know that I am a long long way from the center but the cloud movement is very telling IMO.

I believe the high in the Atlantic may be influencing this as well. Seeing the same thing over here in Biloxi. Low, fast, and heading NW. I'm just thinking we're more under the influence of the high then we are the low at this time.
