Very surprised that not even a STDS has been issued, the NHC has done so for lesser threats near population centers.


Calm down. It's not even clear it's a TD. The winds may support it, but it looks more non-tropical or hybrid to me. Recon will solve the mystery.

If it's tropical, non tropical, hybrid or whatever it just doesn't matter. It will still pakc a punch with some serious rain to go along with it.

Well of course not. :roll:

It does not look purely tropical to me. If recon finds a TD, fine. The effects are going to be the same. Rain, rain, and more rain. The NWS can handle everything right now.

Whether it's a TD or not shouldn't matter too much to Louisiana. It looks like it's heading east and all that nasty convection in the gulf will bypass us.

In my opinion a purely tropical system is trying to overpower trough engrainment and get going.


Why there is no floater on this frankly pisses me off. That's incompetence...

I know dixie made the request for the floater to be moved and it usually works. I don't know what the hold up is. I've even seen them move floaters for winter storms, so why not with a potential td or ts?

RBaker, I just re-sent my request to refocus an IR Floater on the BOC. It appears that my friend may no longer be on board at the floater center -- so will work with someone else.

OK....as for the tropical/hybrid question, I just don't get it. Forms from a westward moving tropical wave, deep convection, LLCC. This has all the hallmarks of a tropical system. Yes, it's disorganized at this time, but all systems undergo that phase. Just because it's October doesn't mean it's a hybrid.

Am I missing something?
