August-September MEI: +0.577

#1 Postby donsutherland1 » Fri Oct 08, 2004 6:44 pm

The August-September value for the Multivariate ENSO Index came in at +0.577. This represents a drop of 0.025 from the July-August value.

Even as a weak El Niño takes hold, this slight drop in the MEI could be a signal that the new El Niño will not reach moderate proportions. Consequently, analogs based on weak El Niño scenarios remain on course.

I'm still supporting the 77-78, 78-79 winter analogs.
