Just when Matthew develops, Nicole is on its heels...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Just when Matthew develops, Nicole is on its heels...

#1 Postby Hyperstorm » Fri Oct 08, 2004 4:55 pm

After noticing this feature since earlier today, I have decided to post a new thread concerning this for the benefit of the people that have not yet noticed that a new tropical/subtropical storm may be forming. It is moving toward the Northwest.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 PM EDT FRI OCT 8 2004

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER HAS BEGUN ISSUING ADVISORIES ON NEWLY
FORMED TROPICAL STORM MATTHEW LOCATED ABOUT 260 MILES EAST-
SOUTHEAST OF BRONWSVILLE TEXAS.

SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT AN AREA OF
LOW PRESSURE IS DEVELOPING ABOUT 500 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BERMUDA.
THIS SYSTEM IS GRADUALLY BECOMING BETTER ORGANIZED AND A TROPICAL
OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE COULD FORM IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS THE
SYSTEM MOVES TOWARD THE NORTHWEST. INTERESTS IN BERMUDA SHOULD
MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS DISTURBANCE.

A LARGE AREA OF CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS CONTINUE OVER THE LESSER
ANTILLES ASSOCIATED WITH A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE. UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
SATURDAY.

PUBLIC ADVISORIES ON MATTHEW ARE ISSUED UNDER WMO HEADER WTNT34
AND UNDER AWIPS HEADER MIATCPAT4. FORECAST/ADVISORIES ARE ISSUED
UNDER WMO HEADER WTNT24 AND UNDER AWIPS HEADER MIATCMAT4.

Bermuda needs to keep an eye on this. It may not become a hurricane but it could bring some gusty weather and rain.

I can see it now: an extratropical low over sable island, a cold front, and nicole it would be the storm of epic proportions.... it would be the perfect storm.

see perfect storm 2 coming this october

To me it looks frontal right now with some signs it may become subtropical or tropical in the next couple of days as it moves NW. Right now the target appears to be the Canadian Maritimes but New England especially upper Maine may see some of this too.
