So what exactly does this mean cycloneye? Has it strenghtened or has it at the least maintained itself?

It is still a generally tropical entity, but I'm surprised the winds are not all that strong on that strong convective burst on the NE side.

This may suggest possible subtropical characteristics as well...

LoL. 33 Kts hardly even deserves TD status, much less TS. Don't TD's start at 30 mph or something like that??

999MB pressure. That is very low for a depression.

The system is embedded in an environment of relatively lower pressures. Interestingly, this also indicates a transition is trying to occur into a more mid-latitude system strengthened by mid-latitude features (baroclinic).

Still...the report clearly indicates a relatively warm-core...

Not tropical storm status.As I said it is extratropical or subtropical to say the least.

No extratropical here, yet...Cycloneye.

Check the temperature distribution...

33 KT would reflect ~29.5/30 KT at the surface which is 35 MPH.

Keep in mind that the reconnaissance plane may not have found the strongest winds yet.
