Its kinda funny because untill i moved here last year i had never heard of Road Runner and it seems that they are everywhere except in Delaware of course where i am from. They just got Cable there this year at the beach areas. But still dont have DSL to my knowledge. Farther inland about 7 miles they got Cable about 2 years ago and DSL.

Well I live out here in the BOONIES - Bre - knows where I live - I have dial-up service. Only 9.95 a month. I'm a cheapstake to Breeze. Heard a rumor that we might get Verizon out here by 2007. Patience is definitely a virtue you learn with 56K.

Can't afford cable, so it's the old basic, B-flat 56K dial-up for me.

The last time I checked, our cable had a download speed of 1200 to 1400 kbs. I don't think that many people on our block have it.

Cable here...DSL at work

#29 Postby azskyman » Tue Apr 08, 2003 10:47 pm

I have Cox cable here in Scottsdale. Uploads of about 30-40kps. Downloads can be 25 to 40kps too. Plenty for me.

Unfortunately, I could still handle dialup for e-mail but searching the web would be very hard to take that way anymore.

I told my wife that at about $9 a week, I would have to give up some food or drive less before I could give up the cable.

Glad I have it.

I had AOL dial-up for 3 3/4 years and finally got a cable modem (when I first moved here to central Florida, it was even available yet). It is well worth it, it sure is great to load radars, satellites and other websites faster than having to wait a number of seconds (even a minute or so at time) to load one website, nevermind several at once.

Just found out three weeks ago that the speed of internet access here will be faster than it has been, I haven't noticed a change yet. Should be sometime this month.

I love my Roadrunner!!! It has slowed a little with others in the area getting it too, but for some reason, even though I live in the city, DSL was not available at my house when I got the Cable Modem 2-1/2 years ago. I've heard several complaints about DSL from friends who have it in this area. I think it is a product of the provider and the area both as MF has said.

I love my Roadrunner too!! I've heard a few complaints as well with DSL. My sister has DSL and occasionally has trouble with her connection. So far, no problems here with Roadrunner. :D

Btw...Roadrunner was available in my area and DSL wasn't. I hated my slow dial-up so I would have gotten whichever was available in my area first. I'm glad it was Roadrunner though.
I don't use the phone company that offers DSL and really didn't want to.

home -I've got the lowest level of 3 speeds offered by Charter for cable modem. Its pretty damn fast as it is and completely blows away dial up.
