Near hurricane force in Bermuda

#1 Postby bdabye » Sun Oct 10, 2004 3:39 pm

Winds have shifted back to the SE this afternoon, and we are now getting
sustained winds about 50Kts gusting 60 -65 in numerous HEAVY rainsqualls.
Appears STD Nicole is making her way in this general direction.

Just checked the data for today...it was a beautiful sunrise per the webcam at the airport looking at St George....but rapidly went to heck!
45mph sustained with a 56.4mph gust this evening...how the heck do you ride a motorbike across the causeway from the airport to Grotto Bay in that????? With S and SSE winds the weather bureau may even had been slightly protected....the south coast must be a direct hit by the gales though.... time for a dark and stormy.
