7:30 AM EDT Storm2k Atlantic Tropical Update,Oct 12

#1 Postby cycloneye » Tue Oct 12, 2004 6:29 am

A cold core low pressure located some 550 miles SW of the Azores islands is moving SW slowly. If the movement to the south continues the system will arrive at more warmer waters and will turn unto a subtropical system.Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are dotting the system around the low pressure.More convection has to form to then have a more warm core system and be clasified as a subtropical system. The storm2k forecast team will watch the system today and any changes will be posted.

Elsewhere in the atlantic:

Conditions are not favorable in a big area of the tropical atlantic, the caribbean sea and the Gulf of Mexico as some shortwave troughs haved sinked more southward than normal for this time of the year. To note the ITCZ is more active today at the eastern atlantic with scattered moderate to strong convection but no signs of development are seen there.
