New tests see no chemical weapons

#1 Postby bfez1 » Tue Apr 08, 2003 11:09 am

April 8 — Conclusive testing is still under way, but the latest tests indicate that barrels found in central Iraq do not contain chemical weapons agents as first suspected, U.S. military sources said on Tuesday. Other suspicious finds — especially rockets potentially packed with sarin and mustard gas — were also still being investigated.

I wouldn't have expected them to be easy to find, but we'll find them eventually.

That's what I was thinking, too. "This is to darn easy".
But you're right, we'll find them eventually.

Even if we never do - we have freed Iraq citizens from the clutches of this evil man.

We only found these because an Iraqi informed us of the whereabouts of these chemicals. Why would that Iraqi lead us to this site if it was insignificant?

That's a good point and obviously, the Iraqi knew we were looking for them. Perhaps he didn't have all or the right information, but it was good that he did show the troops these chemicals.

very encouraging indeed. The more help we get from the inside, the easier it will be to find the WMD and if were lucky, send a rocket right up SH's butt (if we haven't already).

There may be so many weapons of mass destruction, that some of the barrells had to be left out in the open. If an Iraqi told us where these barrells were located, he knew they were suspicious and needed to be checked out and that is what is happening.

There has been discussions with the locals recently that the chems, bios and other 'smoking gun' proof has been moved over the borders into Iran and Syria. The chem factories/labs were on the borders and controlled by Al Qaeda....remember them...?

Here is a reality check for those that may not understand the situation.
Please undestand, this is from experience, and is offered as opinion.
These supposed Chem Caches are nothing but fertilizer, etc.
There is No EPA in Iraq.Hell,DDT is sprinkled on thier fruits and veggies still.
That said, these 'nice Iraqi INFORMANTS' are just that.50 dollars and a bag of wheat gets you 'Information'.It's bought and paid for. This is a business folks, and one the US GOV is well aware of.Ppl are desperate in Iraq and will do nealry anything to eat,get some fuel or just get the hell out with thier families, which costs $$$$$$$$.
Who can blame them?Lead a Platoon to a cache of barrels in the desert, and hope for the best.Take the 50bucks or 20K Dinars and book.
Desperados do exist.Remember that.

Good points ArizWx. The tests on the missiles will be interesting though. I fully expect that we'll find the some of the WMD caches now that the regime has been booted from Bagdad. It won't happen overnight but it will happen!

I agree M2. No reason not to. There may be quite a few barrells of WMD's, some of them moved into Syria as you said.
