coriolis wrote:I posted in the other thread that science usually prevails in this type of question. I accept both what science teaches and what the Bible teaches as they impact my life and actions. The question of Lucy's human-ness does not affect whether I can pay my bills, or how I relate to my family, so I am not going to get worked up over it. Besides, I wasn't there to see it. But it is interesting and valuable to get a sense of our place in the universe - both spiritual and temporal, so I look to both sources to get my bearings. When I am faced with a situation here and now, the Bible gives me more to go on. If anything, the wonders that science reveals deepens my sense of awe and reverence for this whole creation. I am not dwelling on how it came about. It just is. That kind of reminds of of the statement "I am that I am."

A day to God is not like a day to us (24hrs) when you look at the stars as night you are not seeing the light of those stars of now, but rather the light and what it looked like 1000's of years ago. When you look at the heavens, your looking into the past and not the present, so a day to God may be a million years to us.
