Amanzi wrote:Great Topic! So nice to get more insight to my friends here, it really is an honour to meet so many wonderful people in one place!

If you had to meet me in person you would see a 5'5 girl with brown\auburn hair down to her waist. I am very tiny and small boned and weigh 95lbs. I do not look 25 in fact I have been asked if I am 15. I can forget about buying cigarettes or beer without an ID. I look very much like a ballet dancer and always stand with my feet in a ballet position. I live in shorts and shirts. Thats about my wardrobe in total. I look very young, but due to life experience I am old beyond my years. If you had to speak to me, you may say "huh" a lot because of my accent. I have asked for Ice here and ended up being told "we dont sell ass here!"

People's first impression of me is normally that I am cold, formal and etherial. That is of course untill they get to know me. I am painfully shy in new company, but when I do get to know you, you could not find a more loyal friend. I would go to the end of the earth for you and am always here to listen. I consider myself a great listener. I have a very odd sense of humor and love to laugh.

I love my family and spend most of my time with my son, who is my treasure. And of course I spend a lot of time here amoung you wonderful people.

Bill I would bring this party to you my friend. I could spend hours talking to you!
All of you are so special and I would love to meet everyone of you.

Well folks thats me in a nutshell.

Bron,
If you and I would imagine you do make a decent extra extra dry Tanqueray Martini,Stirred with Onions and Olives, chilled and strained, you can ride shotgun in Chaser 1!From one etherial to another, you simply MUST view the sights here! 8)

"j", that makes two knights in the house..I am a Companion Sir Knight Templar, Grand Commandery of Missouri (KT)...we stand for Relief, Charity and Truth, and the defense of the Christian faith, no matter what denomination; it is the highest degree in the York Rite, and the only degree in Freemasonry that requires its Companions to have a firm belief in the Risen Christ... and I'd welcome the exchange, Sir Knight!

As to bringing the party here, I'd LOVE it...Annabelle (she be a ho') would, too...a stranger is a friend she hasn't met yet! Ar-OO-OO-OO-ah!

streetsoldier....I extend my hand in the spirit of fraternal freindship. KofC requires its members to support various beliefs too....all noble and just. I was a 4th Degree Knight.

I never ascended to the ranks of which you have, but if I had staid in Mass. my council had every intention of pushing me right up. I was young (relatively speaking in the midst of an aging Council), and brought energy( I was DJ'ing at the time and volunteered my services at Council functions to raise money for Charity), and enthusiasm to our group. I loved Pitch night complete with peanuts and plenty of adult beverage (after some very well intentioned prayer of course). I learned to Bartend at my Council and met some of the nicest people I have ever known.

Once you shake hands with me, you find in general, a shy, soft spoken man, who has a slight speech impediment, who has a great love for the Lord and his fellow man. You would find out by simple conversation that I would give you my shirt off my back if you needed it. You would find a man who lives a very simple life, one who doesn't dwell on the material things of this earth, one who cherishs every single moment in life and most of all, a man who loves his wife and family above and beyond anything on the face of the earth!

Heck Dennis - I think people say you look like Santa right??? Remember that little girl?? Okay, I'll shut up now...

Damn, the mask is coming off now. I'm one of those "shy when I first meet you" type of people. When I am your friend, I am loyal to a fault. Actually, I'm not a very confident person and I dislike confrontations (yes, ME!). Discussions like the ones we've had about politics, religion actually have brought me more confidence in speaking up - but it is easier typing these opinions on a computer than voicing them face to face. I'll get there! To tell you the truth, I'll hold things back because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings! When I'm upset, I keep it to myself - I'll cry alone when I need too. I don't like feeling and/or looking vulnerable and weak. I love listening to music, being with Marty, my family and friends and of course my pets. I love being alone too.

Anyway, when you first see me, I will be 5'6" with short curly brown hair with a few wisps of grey (coloring has been helping! ). I would love to be at least 20 lbs lighter than my 162 lb frame is now at 40 - I used to be 120 lbs back in my "day" (teens and 20's). I have brown eyes, but I'm fair. I'm a mutt - English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish and Italian. I tan, but also burn if I'm not careful. When I meet someone I know, you'll always be greated by a big smile.

Great thread! :D

Understood, Commander, 5 X 5...but my rank was 02 (1LT).

Arizwx and "j", maybe we can make this gathering a "Knight Out"...for all the guests, chivaric courtesies aplenty...and maybe there are some RenFair types in here that wouldn't mind bringing their trenchers, lutes, etc. for a grand "court" reception on our collective first meeting.

And, what's a court without a few bawdy serving wenches? Any of those in here?

My sincere apologies 1st Leftenant!I Slaute you Sir.Your Officer's Good Standing and Field Commission is left intact on this Bridge.Permission granted to come shipboard by the Cheif Petty on 2nd Watch Gangplank Welcome Aboard! At ease.I shall assume you may care to relieve my #1 as a Courtesy if you are fresh.I would be so honored.
There is a rather sizeable RenCen Faire in Arizona each year. The Joust is superb.I,however prefer the 'Scottish Games',the Lads Clad with Plaids and Kilt to the Clan from the Bonnie Glen.Log Toss is the Game.I shall reserve a Fifth then of single Malt Scotch..'The Glinlivet' for our pleasure. Two fingers, straight up in a short bucket. That will do nicely with the Wellington,Mutton and Yorkshire Pudding w/Horseradish.Hold the Haggus!Sweetbreads and Tripe are not to this Lad's likin'.
Now to find a decent shortbread and some breadfruit pudding in these reaches..that is the Challenge.

From what I've read so far, you guys are exactly like I imagined, which goes to show how truly genuine you are. It is an honor to know you.

I'm a 40 y/o female, 5'7", 118 lbs, dark brown eyes, long, wavy auburn hair that I'm "cultivating" to donate to "Locks of Love", which is a charity that makes wigs for children with hair loss. Just a couple more inches to go and I'll have the 10" ponytail they need and enough leftover for a shoulder length 'do! :D I look much younger than 40, so people say, thanks to great genes from my 62 y/o Greek mom who doesn't look a day over 50.

I fall on the quiet and shy side, until a glass of wine starts loosening the lips. In which case, please quietly take away the bottle, OK? :ggreen: I have several honorary degrees in "Listening", which is why I lurk the message boards much more than I post. So go ahead and talk my ear off. I love it, and I love to laugh. I'm the dork in the corner laughing at everyone's jokes, no matter how corny. And like Stephanie, I'm non-confrontational and low-key. I remain neutral until weighing all the facts. It takes a while to get my blood boiling. My husband says I have TOO much patience, and my mom thinks they gave her the wrong baby at the hospital.

And now the one thing I don't want to admit ....... I'm afraid of storms! I love them because they're fascinating, but lightning just gives me the willies. :o

I'm just a big ole teddy bear...only 5'7", but about 280-290 lb...but I'm not what you'd expect at that weight. I'm big boned, and have lifted weights since I was 18...a shorter version of John Goodman, or former pro wrestler "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes....as my little nephew Nick says, I'm just a "big guy" :D

I usually keep my hair very short, but need a haircut badly....everyone tells me I look great with long hair. I'm extremely fortunate at age 41 no gray hairs and no receding hairline. No beard...have tried a mustache a few times, but always end up shaving it off. Hates dressing up...prefers a t-shirt and sweats or jeans to a suit and tie anyday...I dress casual whenever possible.

I'm a people person, and have never met a stranger...love to make friends; make others feel welcome and comfortable, better about themselves...also like making people laugh. Am very laid back...prefer a quiet walk on the beach to a crowded restaurant or amusement park. Prefer to "roll with the tide", a guy that will walk a mile to avoid trouble....my feelings are hurt very easily, but only because I try not to ever hurt others. It devastates me upon learning I've offended someone. When in provider relations at EDS, I sometimes met or spoke with 400 people a week...on weekends I remembered the
three or four that were rude more than I did the 397 that were polite...don't take critisism well, never have, not even in school...but only because I hold myself to such a high standard. I'm my own worst critic....when I make a mistake, I pledge to never make it again..

I don't have a typical Georgia/Alabama southern accent, and sound more like fishing show host Bill Dance and my uncle Bill Nolen...both are natives of east Tennessee (both ConstructionWx and Barometer Bob have spoken with me by phone).

I've always believed in chivalry...in honor...and have no tolerance for anyone that mistreats or abuses a woman, child, the elderly, handicapped or anyone that cannot defend themselves...I'm not the man you want to hit a lady in front of, and I'd better not be within earshod if you curse her or make her cry. I've called down strangers in public for using vulgar language in front of ladies or children. I'm not a sexist...because of the women in my life...my sister Becky is my greatest hero...so is my grandmother; but I believe women should be treated with respect, with honor and kindness at all times.
I address all men older than me as sir and all women as ma'am, even teenage girls. Please don't be offended if I refer to Jessica Lynch as "little girl". Becky's 37 and she's still my little girl...Beth is 18, 5'9" and she's my baby...she always will be my baby. I have a bad habit of calling women I'm familar as "hon" (honey) or "darling". My emails to Becky usually begin "Hey Sweetheart" or "Hi Honey"!.

I love children...and always try to spoil them rotten. I feel toward Becky's kids as if they are my own....my two nephews Nick and Jacob (6 & 4) are my little men, my eight year old niece Maddie is my little angel...my baby. I'd run naked through a hailstorm while running a fever of 104° degrees for her if she asked me, and she knows it. You think Jessi Lynch made me cry...I do the same if Maddie skins her knee or has a fever. Beth once fell and busted her lip and I called 911...it scared the daylights out of me. The paramedics laughed at me...said I (big brother) was worse than most moms. I took it as a compliment :D

If you come to visit, you'd better be prepared for a hearty handshake, and usually a big hug...as I said, I try to make everyone feel welcome; I'll offer you an icy coke or pepsi if it's the last one in my fridge. Any excuse is a good one to treat you at my favorite BBQ joint, and nearly all BBQ joints are my favorite :D

What do I not tolerate? I always try to give everyone the benefit of a doubt, but cannot stand anyone that is arrogant, hateful, pompous...anyone that tries to belittle others and make them feel small. I rank dishonesty a close second..nothing makes me angrier than to be lied too or jerked around. I've never cared too much for drunks..because many times that leads to other things I despise (arrogance, abuse, etc). I don't mind someone having a beer or drink while watching a ballgame or at dinner; Becky and Dave both drink...but it's never to excess or at every meal.

Racists disgusts me...because I've always judged a man or woman by their character. I know two black men I went to school with that would die for me...and me for them. Larry and Darfus Dallas are lifelong friends of mine..very good friends; they are honorable gentlemen. I don't tolerate the "N" word being said in my presence. I've called down friends for saying it, I've called down relatives for saying it; yet I feel honor, great pride, and reverence toward my southern heritage. My great great grandfather owned no slaves...he was a sharecropper--until he enlisted in the confederate army at age 16.

Well, that's about it. I put on no act on these boards....what you see is what you get.

Take care,
Perry

NP, "j"...just basic, B-flat "mil-speak" from an ancient but infamous war in a SE Asian country far, far way...

BTW, "j" and JetMaxx...I, too, hold to a standard of personal honor and conduct that today seems all but "medieval"; the protection of the weak, women and children, the destitute, our elderly; and the firm belief that, as the Great Architect of the Universe (or God, in any of the 1001 languages in which He is invoked) is the Father of all mankind, then perforce all men are (and must be) brethren...

You'd see a skinny 20 year old dude about 5'8" with a nice set of chompers (a purty smile). Normally short black hair, but sometimes i let it go and it likes getting fro-ish although its not really an afro. I'm usually very respectful in person...i may be pretty quiet though at first. I have to stand back and figure people out before I open myself up. People assume i am smart. I don't know where that comes from...cuz i think i'm an idiot lol! I'm very close with my family and they are very important to me. I guess i'm a home body...even when i grow up i'd wanna stay pretty close to where i grew up. I do like the anonymity of the boards so it takes a while for me to tell y'all about myself. I guess i don't like being under a microscope. Thats about it. I probably forgot smthg. Oh yeh i'm single...so any purty ladies drop me a line hehe jk!

Stephanie...

Bawdy, "busty", able to serve a bountiful trencher of good "rost boeuf", casks drained for tankards of ale all round, beg the alehouse keeper for salt, and perhaps belt out a ribald song from atop a serving table while the weary patrons take their ease...and remember the words of Desiderius Erasmus, visting England during the time of good King Henry VIII...

"The (English have)...an admirable custom of kissing at every turn. Their women are beautiful, and kiss you upon entering, and upon leaving; upon awakening, and retiring; when being seated to meat, and rising from the festive board. If you could but savor the fragrance, the sweetness of these...kisses, you would wish to remain in England, not a year, but for eternity." (From a letter to an Italian cardinal while a guest at Sir Thomas More's estate)

Now, are ye game enough?
