"Desperate Housewives"

Jen - did you think it would be the new night-time soap? If you did, I did as well. It's nothing like a soap! Someone mentioned Twin Peaks. I was going to say Northern Exposure. A TV Guide critic compared it to the movie Edward Scissorhands! Whatever category it can be fit into, it's a hit. Never dull!
And ironically I tuned in to check out Nicollette Sheridan, since I was a diehard, loyal Knots Landing fan. But I don't care for her character at all. So that's disappointing. She's still Paige to me.

Jump the Shark has finally added a page for Desperate Housewives. Check it out - more than a handful of responses already. I laughed at the one poster's alternate title suggestion - Suburban Sluts instead of DH (since two women are divorced)!!!

Sunny - this show will survive! I just looked at the 10 top Nielsen ratings for last week and it was #3. Not to worry, other advertisers will jump aboard I'm sure. I can think of 3 hands down...
Apple (computer and/or iPod)
VW
Mountain Dew
All 3 have edgy promotional commercials and would be a perfect fit for DH.
I read that article and want to know what a "tony suburban neighborhood" is!!! And they called it a night-time soap. Something tells me the person who was responsible for this article, hasn't really watched the show.

"Desperate Housewives"
Since I'm relatively new to satellite, I spend most of my TV time on non-regular network (I've become a closet "Iron Chef" freak, even though it means I'm watching until midnight with a 5:45 wake-up call for work...), but I'm really enjoying "Desperate Housewives." The harried mom and Mrs. Perfect are my favorite characters. I've been trying to get interested in "Boston Legal" but it's just not grabbing me entirely yet.

Boston Legal has not quite caught my attention yet, either. I AM becoming more interested in LOST, though! At first I thought it would be a "Lost Island" sort of thing, but I'm actually enjoying it. I can't wait to find out what the "monster" is!

DH discussions have sprung up on the S2K Awards topic lately. I thought for newcomers to the show, I'd find this former topic. There are a few more DH threads floating around too.

Source: TitanTV
12/15 - Edie and Carl seem somewhat close. Source: SpoilerFix.com
12/13 - Edie organizes a neighborhood search for the missing Mrs. Huber, just as the absent busybody's sister (guest star Harriet Sansom Harris) arrives on Wisteria Lane. Meanwhile, Bree resigns herself to her marital state and asks an attractive pharmacist (Tony Award-winning actor Roger Bart) on a date; Susan's ex, Karl (guest star Richard Burgi), suddenly reappears in her life; Lynette fears that Tom is attracted to the new nanny (guest star Marla Sokoloff); and Gabrielle sinks to new depths - she gets a job. 11/30 - There were early discussions about bringing Christine Estabrook back as Mrs. Huber's twin sister, but ABC rejected the idea. Instead, character actress Harriet Sansom ("It's All Relative") will join the show sometime after New Year's, playing Mrs. Huber's sister, Felicia Tilman, who'll come to Wisteria Lane investigating her sister's sudden disappearance. According to Cherry, Felicia shares a connection to Mary Alice and, as compared with Martha, possesses "a very different kind of evil." Though Mrs. Huber is in fact dead (what Paul did with her body will soon be revealed), there is some good news for Estabrook and her fans. Through spring, she'll continue appearing in flashbacks that will eventually reveal what "sick" thing Mary Alice did. "I'm so involved with the original mystery of the show," Estabrook says. "So there's a lot of Mrs. Huber still to come." Source: TV Tome

10/27 - A hiker's dog finds a bone, after which the hiker sees a trail of bones and a skull, with diamonds in it. Susan spots Mike across the mall and walks towards him, but then she meets an old acquaintance, who suckers her into shopping and lunching with her. Edie tries to find work as an actress, but her options are limited, as it's not New York or LA where she lives. Her new (third rate) agent sets her up with a gig selling cars at a show. Tom lies in bed with a broken leg. A nurse comes to help him out around the house, but to his shock, Lynette arranged for a male nurse. There are even going to be sponge baths. Source: SpoilerFix.com

Feel free to discuss last night's show. Don't read below if you haven't watched yet.

All stories moved forward. Some came to an end (the nanny, loved the look between Lynnette and her husband at the breakfast table!) while others are about to rip wide open (Mrs. Huber). BTW, isn't the actress playing Mrs. Huber's sister, the same one that guested on Frasier as Bebee many times? But with different hair color/style? And wow, she's not too upset her sister is missing! Let's see what else....no surprise about Susan's ex and Edie.....I saw that one coming. Still, what a cad! Standing there with sweater tied around his shoulders (hate that country club look) asking for Susan to give him another chance, after that little bombshell was dropped! Crazy. I see Bree and husband possibly mending their fences. But I don't know.....it would have to be 60% her part, and 40% his. And then could she really trust him again?
Yes I know they're all fictional characters!!!
Loved it when the show was about to air and I said I'd record it. Jim was reading the paper but said "oh leave it on." He looked over the paper a few times (nanny in the kitchen, butt neked! Gabrielle about to lose her dress in the mall, dang his look said!). LOL

Last night was great.
The preview for next week shows a lot of things, but one that stuck with me was Bree teaching George how to use a gun.
Just who does she want to use it on?
I hope Mike doesn't get in trouble for Paul putting Mrs. Huber's watch in his garage(trying to blame him for it).

At the time the watch and ring were planted in Mike's garage, I didn't worry much. We all know his main profession isn't being a plumber. I'm guessing he's an FBI agent. Or PI.
I wonder if Bree is learning how to use a gun, b/c of the Mrs. Huber's murder? Did seem odd. Had to laugh when the Pharmacist she had a date with, was invited to sit next to her husband. And he says - afterall, you are dating my wife. LOL We both cracked up at that. When she got dropped off, I didn't know what she was going to do with him - invite him in for coffee?
We've decided there is no one on this street that's normal! Maybe Lynnette's husband. He seems to be the only one that is grounded. Even Susan is a bit flighty to me.
But the show is entertaining!

For your information, there's never been "stuff" shown. The worst rating the show has got is TV-14 and last night it was PG. The closest thing last night was when Tom saw the Nanny naked.
Even suggestions like that are soft stuff in nature. The preview I saw before the show started was with married women commiting adultery and one I believe was involved in conspiracy to commit murder to her husband.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

"Suggestions" are not pornographic. Pornography, by definition, is sexually explicit images or writing with the primary purpose to cause arousal.
It may be obscence, below decency standards, immoral, and shocking. But it's far from pornographic.
And I sure as heck am not one to defend pornography.
