Asking (Mark Sudduth) and others for advice...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Asking (Mark Sudduth) and others for advice...

#1 Postby Anonymous » Tue Oct 19, 2004 5:23 am

I am torn between spending some of my 300 dollars from my birthday for:
HURRICANE TRACK.COM'S:
Image
OR RICH HORODNER'S HURRICANE CHARLEY VIDEO

A few points here:
I bought this video:
Image from Horodner's website: http://www.hurricanevideo.citymax.com/p ... 570059.htm

See, the thing that I am wondering about the HURRICANETRACK video is:
WHAT IS IN IT?
I know Horodner's video attracts me since it has:

Study the wild gyrations of Hurricane Charley's eye and extremely tight central core as he zig-zagged onshore: on video, via satellite, and via exclusive radar sequences.
Witness the hurricane warning decision making process at the National Hurricane Center as it occurred.

Plus, Charley was (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) my favorite hurricane this year.

I am REALLY torn! LOL! I WILL probably end up buying both, and that brings up my worry...WHAT IF THEY HAVE SOME OF THE SAME VIDEO AS THE OTHER! Mark my friend, please help this dumbfounded 16 year old LOL.

Thanks for ALL of those who give me much needed advice.

I wouldn't waste $300 for bs like that, buy something worthwhile, like maybe something for your computer, or maybe put it in a savings account, or better yet, spend it for a gift for someone else :).

True. I'll use 50 for gifts. 250 for me :)
Each movie costs only 20 dollars. Buying both is 50 dollars.

Floydbuster:

First of all- happy birthday. Enjoy being a teenager- you'll wish you were again over and over once you're in your 30s.

Buy both. Enjoy them both and then tell us all, on an objective basis, which one you liked better and why. That will give people a review to go on for their future wish lists. If you buy them, then you'll be objective, if they were given to you for free, then you might be swayed one way or the other. I don't promise anything in mine except a great look back at Alex, Bonnie, Charley, Frances, Gaston, Ivan and Jeanne as seen from my cameras and crew. I think you'll be most pleased- as I am producing the video to look like something I would want to see.

Get both- you'll be glad you did.

I have made a decision. By the way, with that mathgaffe..it was night, I was tired. LOL

I will buy the Horodner video because:
It is about my favorite storm to track all season, Hurricane Charley
It has footage not found in HURRICANETRACK'S video
Inside of NHC and look into the statistics for Charley

I will buy the Hurricane Track video because:
It is about all the worst this year, AND MAYBE MORE
It is a film my friends made, friends who were there with S2K, like I was reporting round the clock over the radio.
It has footage that the other does not.

I will buy Marks for sure. The other one I will check into. I got a taste of what Mark and his crew can do and I must say they are an asset to the Hurricane Tracking business 8-)

Our video

Just a note:

Hurricanetrack.com's video will be about:

Alex, Bonnie, Charley (x2), Frances, Gaston, Ivan and Jeanne. It will also have an in-depth look at the NHC from Dir. Max Mayfield as he showed me around the place back in February.

I will give you a hint: the video begins with a chilling message from Dr. Bill Gray at the 2004 National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, Florida. From there- it's nothing but canes! Well, and a couple of tropical storms.

One other thing

Look at the artwork graphic. Jesse Bass did that for me. It has Charley on the left, Jeanne on the right, Alex top left and Ivan in the middle- big eye.

Ok- try again:

On the DVD cover graphic- it's Frances top left, Alex top center, Ivan in the middle, Charley bottom left and Jeanne bottom right.

Phew....long night....
