This is strange...I've been here almost 2 months, and this is the very first time I've checked out the Gallery! :o

That does it...somehow, I have to get someone to snap a pic of the "streetsoldier" and his faithful poogle puppy, Annabelle (she be a ho') with "firehead"'s updated mugshot for all to see...

Me too - I never realized we have a gallery. We have all sorts of family pics on the computer now (digital camera) so I'll send one in soon. Probably one of our annual xmas card photo. In fact, it might be familiar to a few - I sent it out last xmas to Eric, Dennis, Steve/Azskyman, Steve/CSun, Bill, etc. There are very few of just me and if there are any, I'm usually pleading with my kids to not take it. LOL

Without even pleading...

#66 Postby azskyman » Thu Apr 10, 2003 10:42 pm

Without even pleading, a whole bunch of you folks laid out the goods (figuratively speaking) for all of us to ponder.

Being honest and allowing vulnerability is a risk...but I suspect we do that here because we want to believe, really believe, that friendships such as these are not limited by the superficial things that tend to keep us from being the same "in our real world." Somehow, I guess, we think if people will continue to converse with us in spite of our real selves, then these indeed are real people too....worth that risk!

History tells me that taking this risk yields more benefit than pain...but to not be surprised by a scud missle landing nearby. Sometimes even a direct hit.

But still the tie that binds those of us who weave in and out of life in the weeks ahead can be a meaningful one if instead of exploiting each other we instead lean on, laugh with, and hold on to each other.

A couple more things about me before turning over the podium to another.

I have come to measure my success in only one real way...by helping those around me realize success, happiness, growth, and confidence themselves.

And while I am very reflective in my thoughts and selective in my words here...I have a wry sense of humor that can spontaneously show up in the middle of a very difficult crisis.

I do not have a scanner or web cam. Not sure if I will in the next few months; maybe some day. Then I have to be sure I want to send pictures to people and perhaps here at Storm2K.

Fair Enough Ladies. It has been long enough...I have been in and around and Admined and Moderated many of these BBs for years..literally.It goes back pre 1998..the Original TWC single space format...really crude and difficult to navigate. One of my very first friends here was 'Pawxguy' from Penna,I nailed a Tornado outbreak for his CWA,an F-3 and F-4 took part of his house apart the next day,the SPC totally blew the SevWx forecast.Pawx was amazed, and VERY grateful, for he took my newbie Forecast seriously, all the way from Arizona right down his street... does anyone remember him? Then 'Trstrm' from Orlando.Hurricane Georges had been in recent memory and we talked all night about the value of Early Warning Systems,Storm Spotters and EMS,he took a class at my urging and covered an area from Melbourne to Orlando to Lakeland to Tampa. He loved Twisters,'Canes, you name it..then the Horrible Tampa Bay tornadoes struck in the middle of the night, and he had been chasing them, against my advice.NEVER Chase at night, especially Solo!People died, even though Pinellas and Hillsborough Co,Fla Sheriff Dept. had been warned by him.He disappeared off the BBs for sometime after that.Great guy!
So,its time, for me to Show the Face to go with the Place..and of course 'Franklin' will be in the Photos along with 'Chaser 1'.I may include pix of myself and my beloved restored 1982 Pininfarina 2000cc Spider Cabriolet aka 'La Nina' or the '79 Porsche 930 Intercooled Turbo aka ,the'DeathStar'.I need to use my 16yr old son's scanner,so it may take awhile!
Did I also mention I am also a Gourmet Cook?It is something I picked up while living in the Vieux Carre(French Quarter) of the Big Easy while attending Tulane Law school.I saw another dude post up the same. You see ladies,we He-beasts are useful and quite creative!
I must start back working on that Screenplay/Book...'The Secret Storm'.
I have been working on it for 4+ yrs.It is based on actual events during WW2..intrigue,coverups,the US Gov,Nazi U-Boats in the GOM ready to blow Houston's Aviation Fuel Facilities Sky High!A Hurricane formed S of New Orleans, and headed for Houston! The Nazi U-Boat hightailed it to Tampico,MX...all radio silenced...including the US Navy at Galveston Is.,Tx. The Army Sig Corps and Us Wx Buereu in New Orleans knew of the 'Canes danger, yet Houston,a city of 400,000 pop then was never warned.Intrigue.
This is the Hurricane that brought us the First Aerial Core Eye Punch in a Little 'Texas Trainer' open cockpit Prop from Byran Field,Tx near Houston on a dare from British Spitfire trainees! And they were drunk!!!The FIRST Ever Readings above the Eye of a 'Cane..as it SAT over Dwtwn Houston.
The young Officer, alone, went back to PROVE he had done it,awoke the only Science Officer available,a Doctor...also half loaded. They Punched it again down to 4k feet! They Dove into the Eye.WOWSA!The Brits were impressed, albeit,it turns out..they had NO idea of just what a Hurricane was!LOL!And so..the Hurricane Hunters we have today, were born.
Sadly, with Conspiricy, cover ups and Wartime Radio Silence, many died.Sailors at Galveston to Houston's civilians..over 575 dead as the 'Cane went Major at Cat3 as it rolled in.This is the premise of the Book/Screenplay.I have much work to do...to tell this little known story.I am a survivor of Aug 1969..'Camille',the Cat 5 'Killer QueenB!tch'.I have a passion after viewing the 'Stairway To Heaven',the concrete Steps of the doomed Richelieu Apartments, still there as a reminder in Biloxi,Ms.as Camille Slammed ahore that AUG'69 Morn at 5Am at Pass Christian,MS. between Bay St.Louis and Long Beach,as she cranked out of the warm SSTs on the shallow eddys of Chandeleur Sound. This was also the first 'Cane to be the responsibilty of the then new 'National Hurricane Center" in Coral Gables,Fla, where I would later intern.
Have a Wonderful Eve!And watch for my Book, & someday soon the Movie.BTW.This is the perfect place for casting!***Note to Self:DJ, you are brilliant!**** 8) Oh,and VbHoutex,If you remember,I could use the name and number of the Publicist/Publisher you had mentioned last year in Atlanta.Thx!

DJ that was a truly fascinating "story". I want front row seats to the premiere of your movie. ;)

I was just thinking about what you said Azskyman

"But still the tie that binds those of us who weave in and out of life in the weeks ahead can be a meaningful one if instead of exploiting each other we instead lean on, laugh with, and hold on to each other"

Those words truly are very meaningful! I find it so easy to "talk" to the folks here at storm2k. I am not afraid to express my opinion about a certain topic because I know my opinion will not be shot to flames, but will be respected and even if it is debated it is done with love and care. I have never been hurt by harsh words by anyone I care for here, and find the people on this board so wonderful to laugh and yes even cry with. There is a common bond between many of us here. Race, creed or external physical things do not come into play. Just a true exchange of friendship! That is why I cherish each and every person on this board. I just pray I can continue to nurture and build on these friendships daily.

AMEN - Bronni!

arizwx - Look no further for your cast and crew!

azskyman - I've always enjoyed reading your posts, here and at TWC. Your nuggets of wisdom and love of weather make me smile. :D Also, I have a close friend who will crack a joke during a crisis. That's her way of dealing with it - laugh!

Wow! I caught this one late! But I will add my two cents anywho!

I am the definition of an extrovert! I am not shy in the least, I make friends very easily and keep them too! Red, unruly long hair with blonde streaks, blue eyes, few extra pounds (but who cares! hehe) and I'm a shortie! (My pic is in the gallery.) I am easily amused, sometimes easily confused  , very very emotional, and sometimes a worrywart, but always out to see the best in every situation! I have a crazy sense of humor and have been known to laugh at things that are not even meant to be funny until I'm teary eyed! But although I am happy go lucky beware!!! I AM a redhead, and a scorpio, so if I get mad, I get MAD!!! I always tell it like it is, but I try to be as nice as I can. I do tend to get my feelings hurt easily, that emotional part of me, but good friends have me feeling better in no time, which is what I love about S2K because I always feel better when I post on here! I love y'all!
