well at least it has somewhat the right idea here. We have NO PNA ridge (infact we have a strong PAC jet firehose), NO -NAO, I cant find any 50-50 low, and the PV is out of the picture...so that would mean the system would be able to run inland. On that front Kudos to the GFS for not painting the usual--once in every three runs--1993 superstorm in spite of the aforesaid factors going againt it.
But even still you can clearly see the GFS over phasing bias at work here.
