Even though I don't post here that often, you and yours and all your friends and family are always in my prayers

I wanted to thank everyone for their prayers about my mom and her job situation. She has FINALLY found a permanent place of employment once again. :) Thank you everybody! :D

Also I want to thank everyone who has prayed for the resolution of my (seemingly ongoing) computer problems. The check finally got to Compaq today and my CD's should be here in a few days! :)

Baby Grace update - she passed away last night an hour after being disconnected from the ventilator. Everything had been done that could be done. She had far more extensive bleeding in the brain than anyone suspected at first, which made surgery almost impossible to perform.

So please keep this Cincinnati family in your prayers. This was the couple's second baby, their son Wade is 4. I hear he's having a very hard time. The family had a room at our local Ronad McDonald House during Grace's hospital stay. She wasn't even 2 weeks old when she passed away.

I volunteered this past Summer at the R. McDonald House. It was very rewarding experience. I urge anyone on the boards to consider this volunteer outlet (school/church/youth groups). I helped cook and serve dinner to the families on a Friday night with my daughter Nina's Pride Club. We all said we plan to go back, b/c we got more out of the evening that I think the families did. To witness a group of teens quieted and humbled, by sheer tragedy is something magical to see take place. Gone were conversations about MTV, Movies, going out with friends.....replaced with genuine smiles, concern, and mostly respect. Some almost were near tears (I was a few times).

So again, thanks to all that prayed for this little baby.

Mary

*bump*

I am asking for prayers this morning because I am entering a new and important time in my life now. I have decided to go back to college after a year and a half (or so) off. It is that time in my life where I need to decide what to do with myself and my life, and I figured that it would be best to start by taking some college classes. Therefore, I am going back for the spring semester, and to do that I have to take my assessment tests on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 PM my time. I would appreciate it if you all could pray for me that I do a good job and get high marks on my exams so that I can do well this semester! Thanks!

And yes, Joshua, prayers for you on your new adventure too. Remember that as the door opens for you to improve yourself, be watchful for new opportunities all along the way...not just when, or if, you finish. Life is a journey, you know, so it is what you do with the opportunities you are given that count the most.

Your dad would be very proud of you...as are we at Storm2k.

Mary, thanks for the update, sad in some ways, but joyful i nthe fact that Baby Grace is in God's hands now and free of suffering.

Joshua, I can't add anything to what Steve said except my continued prayers that your journey is fuitful and satisfying.

Some more sad news came across my e-mail today.

The nephew of a lifelong friend of mine was killed in Falluja, Iraq, on Monday. Seems only a short time ago she shared the news that he had been nominated to the high school homecoming court. His cousin was killed in a tragic auto accident just about a month ago on I-39 in Illinois.

Within ten minutes...another message came my way. The 14-year old grandson of some dear friends (who travelled to Switzerland with us a few years back) drowned in the local YMCA pool on Monday as well.

Tragedies both. God's choices are not our choices. But trust we must. And trust we do.

Never let a day pass without making it count, my friends.

So very, very sorry to hear, Steve. :( (((((HUGS)))) to you and Kathy.

My heart, prayers and thoughts go out to you and to these families. :(

Also, my 10 yr-old niece Janae has had a cold over the past week and I got an email from her this evening saying she went to the doctor today and got some medicine...she has strep throat. Her Dad Mike isn't feeling well either.

And to ALL others here at the Prayer Warriors thread you are in my prayers and thoughts as well.

Eric

It has been a LONG time before today since I have posted. The reason: school! :) It is going about as well as I could expect. History is not a strong subject, and have some problems in that course (still maintaining a "C" ;) ).

Life has been a little stressful lately. Besides the obvious, school and work, I am currently a little down. :( Well, I met this girl, Stephanie, in that same history class, World Civilizations. We have become good friends.

She helped me out of a problem back in October--it dealt with a nasty mid-term exam grade (which does not mean much in my final grade now). She helped perk me up. Steph wondered if I have attended our school's hockey team, the Mavericks, who play in a 20,000-seat arena, top notch, downtown. I said, sure. I brought up the idea of going this current weekend (double hitter Friday, and tonight- Saturday), and she said it would be perfect.

Well, this past Thursday, the last History session for the week, I did something that I don't know if I can forgive myself for. I heard the word "boyfriend" in her conversation with this other student before class. That pretty much was computed as " I don't think I better go any further with her." If one looks back in this thread to earlier this year, you would see why I would feel like "here we go again".

Basically, I handed in my quiz, and made quick walk down the hall to the elevator, not waiting up for Steph.

Friday, she wrote an e-mail and she knew what caused it: the word "boyfriend".

You have to remember I am not mad; I just have been in situation simialr to that before, and want to avoid it.

She said that she valued our friendship, and her boyfriend does know about me and was eager to meet me at the game Friday night.

I wrote her back indicating that she "did nothing wrong." It was all my fault. Steph said that she apologized for the misunderstanding. I told her that "I should be the one apologizing."

I am just praying that she knows that I still like her as a friend, she did not do anything wrong. Unlike my experience with Emily last winter and spring, Stephanie holds alot more POSITIVE opportunities for myself. I don't want her to be down or upset.

Thanks! :)

Brian, whatever happened with Emily? What's the latest in that situation? :)

Well, I have not heard from her since August. That was the last time my group of FORMER friends hung out together.

I have heard that she now lives in an apartment on her own with her daughter Lillian.

Why have kind of left that relationship?

I am afraid that I may have to throw in the towel with my friend Emily! She doesn't seem to want to talk to me, and who could blame her. I was lucky that she went out with me 4 times. She is just to busy, but also I think she is trying to avoid me.

Thanks for your prayers, and maybe someone who is much more responsible, caring and compassionate will come along, who does not leave me out to dry.

If only I knew then what I know now! Okay, I was not aware she had a boyfriend until a couple weeks later after I posted this. We remained friends, and I actually hung out with her, her boyfriend and soem of her other friends a ton this past summer, particuarly around Independence Day.

This uncovered the reason why God, though he allowed me to go on my first date ever--Emily being my first ever--he did not want me to become this girl's boyfriend (or as she puts it with her current boy friend(s), "boy toy" ). I agree.

I found out that Emily has been very lazy, she does not care about anyone else but "what's in it for me", she has had a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) violation this summer, and she smokes. While I knew this way back when I met her, I assumed she was trying to quit and you could purchase it LEGALLY. Well, sometimes she would joke about smoking illegal substances and the like. I rather not cloat my lungs with second-hand smoke, but as long as she is in the law, I don't mind going out with the group every once and awhile. Like in an airport, jokes about terror, bombs, guns, etc are treated seriously, how can I assume that Emily is just joking about the illegal stuff? Not going to take any chances.

The positive for me, I start Fall semester at a larger university like setting Aug 23. Opportunities to meet people who care about school yet still have fun WELL within the law abound.

Thank you! :) I am just... impatiently, I must admit... waiting for her to respond to my e-mail, letting her know not to feel guilty. I don't want her to feel uncomfortable or bad any longer. When she sees the e-mail I sent through my Universitie's e-mail system, she will be happy again. That is all that counts! :)
