The gathering
We had a good time although I wish more people could of attended. Mike Watkins was their along with Boca Girl, King6,The Big Dog. and myself. I would like to set up a committee to try to plan something 5 or 6 months in advance. Mike Watkins was talking about getting a speaker possibly. My feeling is if we carefully plan something maybe we'll get a big turn out. Thank you to every one that made it tonight it was fun and we have a few pictures for the gallery. I would like to get input from the Houston group on how you got everyone toegther year after year. Thank you Steve (Boca)

I'll be able to make future meetings, as long as professional considerations dont get in the way, as they did today due to the meeting on Monday (which I have to make even more plots for and I am not even sure how to write the computer program to make horizontal cross sections of dropsonde data) on a new project, RAINEX

Perhaps we can organize a statewide meet up sometime in the next year or so, in the central part of the state (maybe Orlando, or Daytona Beach--an area easily accessed from I-4 and I-95). that way our members from the panhandle only have half the distance to drive as they would if we held the event in SFL, and our SFL folks would not have to travel to the Panhandle. Basically, its a central location and within respectable distance for everyone.
Planning this 6-12 months in advance would also give everyone the chance to make appropriate arrangements with their families and employers. The more company the better, this doesn't have to be restricted only to S2k members, we would also like to involve the family. Make it a vacation for all.
Feedback requested...let me know what you think.

As far as the Hou/Galv get togethers go we have never had as many as you got together at one time that I know of. We have had a get together each year though and that is a start. I think this year it may be a bigger group since we have more members than ever from the Houston area. We also need to get someone to plan it well ahead so there doesn't need to be any last minute scrambling to try and arrange schedules. We have tryed to have it on the first day of Hurricane season each year. Of course we'd love for everyone from Texas and Lousiana to come join us.
We're still waiting on those pictures to be posted!

lol...what success? The most we've had at a get together has been four or so. One of them was planned around the annual hurricane conference in late May of 2003. Four showed up that day. Then in December of that year we had attempted to have one and two of us showed up. Seems like you guys have had the most successful get together so far! Congrats! I'd have come but I had so much homework I needed to do.

It was nice to meet everyone...sorry I didn't get a chance to stay longer...turns out my son passed his flu on to me...spent most of Saturday night and Sunday in bed...but am feeling better now.
Hopefully we can get together pre-2005 season...perhaps in May. I'll be happy to help out however I can...thanks again for putting this together!

It really was great to met everyone. The patio setting was comfortable, the food was good and owner of Khaki's took really good care of us. I hope that more people decide to come and join us next year.
Blame me for the delay in not getting the pictures developed right away. I have them in a little disposable camera and will drop it off on my way home tonight.
Someone from from Storm2K-what's the best way to get the pictures to you?
