Could it happen?

As of now, it looks like there is a possibility of a snowstorm or mixed bag of precip in the midwest and northeast around thanksgiving or the period right afterwards. Latest GFS has DC picking up over 2 1/2 inches of snow on Turkey day (It IS the GFS but 8 days out isn't too far away...). Right now, I would think that the Midwest and interior Northeast have the best chances of getting snow w/this one.

It's still over a week out so it's nothing to take too seriously but it's worth looking at.

The latest GFS looks somewhat favorable for snow on Thanksgiving.

Definately a snowmaker for the East Coast. Early indications are that Central Indiana may fare out of getting any snow til around the beginning of December.

In Thanksgiving 1989 Woodbridge got 3 inches of snow. Then we got 7 inches Dec 6, then 6 inches Dec 13, then it milded up a lot, the snow melted, then the rest of the winter stayed mild and rainy with no snow at all and we really saved on fuel bills.

I think that if DC gets a lot of cold and snow in late November and December, we will likely see mild weather Jan through Mar. I'm not being pessimistic and this is not reverse psychology bs, I am just saying I've seen this before. It happened in 1989. I'm fine with the cold and snow for Thanksgiving and December but I am not going to get my hopes up. I think DC will get exactly two snows this winter. Each snow will accumulate 2 to 5 inches. If this happens in December then I think Jan through Mar will be average to outright mild.

I refuse to get overexcited this winter about snow. I love the stuff, but.......

1) I am in middle age and really need to grow up, and
2) If I want snow I need to move to Ellesmere Island or some place like that. Then again, that's in Canada and they're socialist so I sure won't go there lol.

Just my .02 cents.
