Tn Valley weather

#1 Postby FreeSkier » Tue Nov 16, 2004 12:45 am

hey everyone i live in nashville and love the winter. I have been watching these forums and reading everyone posts and starting to understand what needs to happen and what is Predicted to happen. From what i here weak el nino winter give above average snowfall here and below average temps. This summer was indeed cool and some parts of the fall have been but lately the weather has been up and down. The average higher are somewhat below normal and the low are not as cold as normal tho. Nashville has not had its first hard freeze yet. I live in the outer areas and do beleive we hit 32 here. It looks like the nexet 5 days will be on the warmer side till sunday which calls for rain and a front to push though. Sun high of 60 and low of 39. Then Moday high 53 low 41 and then tues they call for a mix. This is along way out but does the east fnally get the trough. Models show the east cooling down on the GFS and the MRF shows monday nights 850mb lows to be cold Image

This is tues ImageImage

That shows cold air and it looks like it will stay in place. I am new to this so pleaes if i am not making sense excuse me.

FWIW...

Averages of weak El Nino winter seasons (temp statistics are for Dec., Jan., and Feb. only) in Nashville compared to 'normal':

Snowfall: Normal=9.1".....Weak El Nino=18.4"

# of days
with temp less
than 10 degrees: Normal=3.3.....Weak El Nino=6.4

# of days with
max temp less than
or equal to 32F: Normal=9.0.....Weak El Nino=15.2

# of days with
min temp less than
or equal to 32F: Normal=53.2.....Weak El Nino=67.2
