Five teens arrested in turkey-hurling incident

RONKONKOMA, New York (AP) -- Five teenagers were arrested in the hurling of a frozen turkey that smashed through a motorist's windshield, critically injuring her.

Police said Ryan Cushing, 18, threw the turkey from a car he and the other teens were riding in Saturday. It smashed through the car window of a 44-year-old woman who was driving in the other direction.

She was in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Cushing was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, forgery, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property.

He and the other teens allegedly stole a credit card to buy the turkey at a supermarket.

The other four teens were charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

Ronkonkoma is in the approximate geographic center of New York's Long Island, about 50 miles east of New York City.

This Ryan Cushing is a total waste. He and his friends' lives are a permanent mess.

His parents are a mess too. They sure didn't raise their messed-up son right. Credit card fraud, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief...... This crazy kid reminds me of another really senseless, dumb, clueless kid who chucked a friggin' ROCK off a bridge that crashed into the front windshield of a car, injuring this poor lady, who to this day is in severe pain that can't be managed!!!!!

It is HIGH TIME we as a society get our doggone act together. This clueless kid and his clueless family should be dealt with swiftly. This numbnut kid should be tried in a court of law, tried and found guilty, then thrown in state prison for life IN THE GENERAL POPULATION. Absolutely NO parole. Sentenced to life in state prison until he kicks the bucket. His family should work about five jobs until they pay off the enormous hospital costs that the 44 year old woman incurred because this sorry excuse for a so-called human being threw a frozen turkey out the window of a moving vehicle and by dumb bad luck it happened to crash through the windshield of this poor lady's car. If this crazy kid's family can't or won't pay for all the medical costs of this lady whom their dumb son injured, they should be thrown in prison (another prison, NOT the same prison their son is in) for LIFE.

I for one have NO wish to live in a community with such messed up low lifes. These failures need to be swiftly dealt with, and harshly at that. When we have kids with too much darn time on their hands, something needs to be done about it. Like having 6 day school weeks and a lot MORE homework. And far tougher laws, with teeth! And the parents need to get a MAJOR LIFE and get the kids off that computer!!! Get their sons and daughters off the violent video games!! Clean up the house!! Don't they have schoolwork to do? They should be working out!!! Too many teenagers are overweight!! Too much time watching violent movies on TV!!

Something needs to be done.

When I was growing up, I lived in Nesconset, NY which is about 5 miles to the north.

Sounds like they also planned to do this, if they stole a credit card to purchase the turkey. It certainly wasn't for them to bring it home to mom to cook it.
