Bill, if I couldn't eat giblet gravy, then, I would
DEMAND brown gravy, which goes just as well
over potatoes and dinner rolls - and, heck,
probably dressing, too! ;)

My maternal grandmother's homemade dressing...she's now in her 80s and has a house near her daughters in Ohio. But those were sure great times when all my cousins, aunts and uncles and my folks, sister and I gathered at her house when she lived in Indiana (we went to her house every other year for either Thanksgiving or Christmas) and that homemade dressing really stands out in my memory. :D I have a great aunt (on my Dad's side of the family) and when we gathered at his folks' house in Indiana she was always known for her lime jello salad that had cool whip, coconut and marshmallows
in it. :)

you lost me with anything containing jello (any flavor) and marshmallows. Ugh. Call me what you will, but those two food items are under the list of things I just cant bear to put in my mouth.

I grew up on this dessert...and the coconut gave it some body so to say. :wink:

Anybody ever make a thanksgiving sandwich? A friend of mine makes a sandwich the next day with turkey, dressing and slice of jellied cranberry sauce. At first I thought it sounded strange, but it was delicious.

Tomato Shrimp Aspic.......my mother made this dish for years, ever since I can remember, now I carry on the tradition, it's WONDERFUL, it complements the turkey like you wouldn't believe. It's so good (not to brag) but The Weather Channel featured it one year, I believe 3 years ago on their site!

My favorite side dishes for the Turkey:

Mashed Potatoes in Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Apple Pie, Corn on the cobb, stuffed celery, I'm forgetting others.
