California Town Says OK To Adultery

POSTED: 9:29 a.m. EDT April 15, 2003

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. -- It may still be immoral -- but adultery is no longer illegal in Rolling Hills Estates.

The City Council of the small community south of Los Angeles has repealed a law that's been on the books for 46 years. It prohibited immoral conduct -- including extramarital sex.

No one was ever known to have been arrested under the adultery ordinance, which was actually superseded by a state Supreme Court action in 1962.

And no one knows what may have prompted civic leaders to impose the law to begin with. It will be officially off the books in May. But no one is saying it'll make them change their behavior any time soon.

I believe that there's a higher authority than the Supreme Court. :-) At least the punishment isn't along the same lines as the Islamic penalty for theft! :o

The Superior Court of the entire Sate of Arizona nixed it years ago and can no longer be used as a Statute for Divorce proceedings...trust me.I know. And,no I was faithful as a Spaniel! It is common knowledge here that most of the Judiciary and Juris Prudence are 'imbedded'. :o

Yeah, and we're towering in Babble. The interesting thing is that people will commit immoral acts, such as adultery, but now they give it 'tacit' approval. The real question is, what precipitated the call to kill the law :?: And more importantly, it will not be allowed as cause for divorce :?: Watch the homicide rate go up :o

This is rather interesting. Glad I don't know where that city is.
