VALPARAISO, Ind. -- There was a violent attack at the start of school Wednesday at a northwest Indiana high school.

Authorities said a student at Valparaiso High School slashed eight other students with a knife. A police spokesman said none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

A hospital spokeswoman said all of the students injured in the attack at should be released by the end of the day.

Eight students suffered cuts when another student attacked them with knives in a classroom at the high school. One student also has a hip injury.

One of the injured students refused treatment, and two others already have been released. Police said the attacker is in custody. There's no word yet on a motive.

The school dismissed early Wednesday for Thanksgiving.

And, to think that rubberbands used to be the
weapon of choice at school! Now, it's guns and
knives! There was a time when going to school
was a priveledge - now, kids are lucky if they
survive it!

Oh no....I was hoping we were dealing with these kids who do this kinda crap...been a while since a story like this has come out. Valp'o is a pretty nice area actually, just a bit east of Chicago. I'm glad to hear these kids are OK, wish them a speedy recovery. I hope whoever did it gets help. By the way, why in the heck did these kids have school the day before Thanksgiving? I've never heard of such a thing.
