WHO Officials Fear Bird Flu Pandemic In Southeast Asia

POSTED: 8:38 am EST November 26, 2004
UPDATED: 8:51 am EST November 26, 2004

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Officials of the World Health Organization say they fear the bird flu virus in Southeast Asia could become a worldwide pandemic capable of killing anywhere from 2 million to 7 million people.

And they say it could sicken billions of others. They're concerned because the bird flu virus shows it can infect across species and has resisted efforts to stamp it out.

The virus first spread among chickens but killed 32 people this year in Thailand and Vietnam. It's also showed up in domestic cats and tigers in Thailand.

Scientists say, "The extent of the current outbreak in poultry is historically unprecedented."

They say the best way to combat the disease is to overhaul the way animals are raised for food.

Pretty scary Eric....I heard this on the radio yesterday, not a good situation at ALL!

Now...we, along with the rest of our K9 Unit, vacinated our dogs 2 weeks ago for the Parvo Virus (it's rampent here on the mountain)....EVERY SINGLE dog got ILL, VERY ill! We took them to the vet, tests were taken, sent to the UofA in Tucson for the results AND....this is the SCARY part, the school advised the vet that it was a "DIRECT" result of the dogs having a "mutant strain" of the Asian Bird Flu....it's the first step in mutation BEFORE it moves on to HUMANS! Gods' honest truth here folks!

Great Idea Bron, also....we discovered this stuff called "Emer-gen-C", it's a water soluable vitiman drink mix. Mix one packet per 8 oz. of water, 2x per day (comes in different flavors, raspberry, lemon lime).....it contains 1100% of the daily requirments of vitiman C, ALL the vitiman B complex and 34 other required vitimans. You can find this mix at WalMart (where else *sigh*). Michelle and I (plus the 2 pharmacists that's in our unit) "SWEAR" by it, so far, no illness what so EVER and I'm the one who catches EVERYTHING!
