For those of you who knew I was gone on vacation, we got back yesterday and I thought I would fill everyone in... whether or not you want me to. LMAO
Well, it was a fun time, but I had a moving experience happen to me as well.
We left Wednesday @ 3:30 and stayed the night in Durant, OK (as you know). We got up early on Thanksgiving and headed to San Antonio. We made it around 1, got checked in, and headed to see the sights.
The first stop was the Alamo. I am a history buff, so that was very interesting. Then we went on to the Riverwalk, which was really neat, too. We took the boat ride and learned about the history of San Antonio. I find little things like that fascinating... sort of an "every town has a story" sort of thing.
We went back to the room early on Thanksgiving to rest. On Friday morning, we got up and went to the zoo. I love zoos and San Antonio has a great one. I suggest that you check it out if you are ever in that area!!! Then we traveled back downtown for the lighting of the Riverwalk and the Christmas Parade that is on the water. That was spectacular!!! We waited down there for 3 hours, but we got front row seats!!!!
We got up yesterday and left @ 7:30. We rolled back into Monett @ 6:25 last night. I drove the whole way!!! My legs were sore.
At one stop when we were filling up with gas (Oklahoma City I believe), a man pulled up to fill up and came over. He had 2 dollars left to fill up his car and get back to Houston where he lived. He had to come pick up his son there in OK City because his son had car trouble. He was very humble and asked for some money to fill up his car with gas so they could make it home. I told him that I would fill up their car for them. We did and I hope they made it home all right. They were so thankful for us. Those kinds of things always make me feel so back down to earth. Here we have been spending a lot of money and some people don't even have enough to drive somewhere in an emergency. It makes you really appreciate what you have. At the same time, I was glad I could help that man. I wish I could have done more. Even thinking about now makes my heart heavy. I just wish I knew if they made it home safe.

And your kind and loving deed you did for that man and his son was very nice, too, Bro...it goes to show that an act of kindness can go beyond a certain designated week each year!!![]()
Eric
Thanks Eric. I just hope they made it home.
