IMO Airport security is a joke! What do you think?
Having picked up and taken my mother to the airport here in Houston over the last 2 weeks I have come to the conclusion that airport security is somewhat of a sham. Am I a day late and a dollar short? I can't vouch for those actually going to the gates since I can't without a ticket and I must say that operation lookes pretty solid considering the amount of people they had to process. However, on the outside there were unattended cars parked right next to the terminal in no parking zones and vehicles left unattended in the drop off areas for long lengths of time(several minutes) and not attentive(if he even was one)law enforcement anywhere in sight at the drop off point. I must say when I picked her up the pick up area was well patroled and clear of parked vehicles. Has anyone else traveling seen this type of lasness?

I know that TF Green airport in Providence, Ri has great security! I was just thinknig the same thing when I went up north this past summer... The airport here in Houston has crap for security! I dont know who is in charge of checking the airports to see who is doing what, but I think that IAH needs to be looked at... In the Prov. airport, everyone in line already had their shoes off! and you didnt go through one security check point, you go through 3 by the time you get to your gate! Ill tell ya, I think that TF Green is one of the best airports in the US for not laying off security...

It's better than it used to be, but a long way from adequate.
My feeling exactly J!!! Security should be almost a cookie cutter approach for each airport.
I'm glad to hear things at other airports are secure. Sadly it is not that way here apparently and we are one of the larger airports volume wise in the US. Time to contact local authourities and complain or better yet sic the news media on them.

I don't know why they are worried about car bombs; there are places that would cause greater casualties than airports. Also, nothing is going to be able to stop a suicide car bomber, no mater where they try to attack (with the exception of concrete barriers). They would most likely just drive into the building and detonate the bomb, not park the car and escape first.

Once again, I am surprised! I have flown through PIT a few times and thought that it was very clean and spacious. However, you won't have to worry about connecting through PIT much longer; US Airways is de-hubbing it.

I've been through Harstfield quite a few times since 9/11 and must say I saw quite a security presence internally. Externally I can't really speak to since I was changing planes. I must say considering the amount of ground traffic on the tarmacs and the apparent lack of uniformed security in those areas I would be concerned about the security in those areas.
