Impressive Storm off SoCal Coast

#1 Postby aveosmth » Sun Dec 05, 2004 7:28 am

There is a very potent low pressure system off of the California coast centered near Santa Barbara....it looks like the low will move SE towards LA County, but skirt the coast along the way....Im right near the coastline so I'm gonna get hammered by this one...but the inland areas will probably only see scattered showers....I wish this storm would track a little further SE, it would be a doozy.

Have you had any rain up there yet? I am about 3 1/2 miles inland from the coast and already have about 1/4" in my rain gauge so far. I am definitely watching this what now appears to be a surface low that is moving in our direction. Looks to be a wet morning and early afternoon for our Sunday for sure.

Tornado, you should be getting some light to moderate rain now as the low center has begun to move eastward. You will get some heavy rain out of this, but not as much as we could have if the low would have moved east about 12 hrs ago.

It was weak here too, I only have about 1/4 of an inch in my gauge. :( Was hoping for more, but you do have to remember that every bit counts. ;)
