Decorations, yes! Day after Thanksgiving!

Lights outside - NO! Why would a single lassie
want to mess with that?

I do not decorate because I believe that it takes away from the true meaning of the holiday and seccularizes it.

IMO, Christmas should be spent in church, not under the tree, but them again, it's JMO

Outdoor lights went up today. Some inside decorations are out and on tables. Still can't believe I'm this late on this job but we are finishing up remodeling jobs in our basement, a DIY project we started almost a year ago. Next year I'm decorating all in one day, if it kills me!

Ours are up...no tree this year, but some twinkly lights and garland along with a handful of other holiday feasts for the eyes. Feels like Christmas at our home....even without a tree (we'll be away for the holiday this year).

I have most of mine up. We still need to get the tree - maybe next weekend.

Got my tree up and decorated inside. Think I'm going to forego the outside this year.

?? Why? Sounds like there's a story to tell for this change of tradition to occur...

This from Beer in a Sat. post:

We are having a new house built and need to sell ours. We thought it would be a good idea not having all the lights on the house and yard decorations. You can see pictures of my display here from years past. They are a few thousand lights short of last years display though.

My outdoor lights have been up less than 36 hours and already one strand, smack in the middle of a few bushes went out. Figures!!!

My husband (who has no desire to do any of this nonsense) gave me detailed instructions on how many stands to string together, how to use extension cords/3 way plugs etc. I even drew a diagrahm and label each strand, for what bush it goes on. Which cord this strand goes into. This method has worked well for 4 or 5 years. Maybe I got sloppy when I packed it all away? If I do it right, it all goes up in 20 minutes. I'd better take good notes this year. Hate untangling lights and this plan used to work for me! Dang...did something wrong this year! LOL

A few neighbors have their front door and sidelight windows lined with just roping and white lights (what I do too) and then a candle in each window.

Someone's telling me I need to do this!!!!

I got the tree up in the living room!

All I need to do is to decorate it with lights & ornaments, and string lights around the living room window and I have it made.

My concrete goose by the front door is already wearing his Santa suit and beard; the Santa, Snowbaby, Snowman, and children's holiday book collections are on display inside; wreaths, door decor, and wall hangings are up on both floors; and my new Mountain King lighted palm tree is up in the living room although barely decorated. But the Christmas calliope (rather than train) set, the main tree, and the four other smaller trees are still packed in the garage; the front palms and potted patio palms still need their lights, too. Tomorrow my sister will be in from St. Paul to celebrate an early Christmas this weekend, so everything will have to go up Friday!
P.S. The menorah (with very thin, lovely blue and white candles) and the dreidel sets (with the yummy chocolate gelt to play with) are out, too. I like to celebrate ALL holidays this time of year!
