Sorry-I should have posted in this thread instead of Dons!! If the GFS past 184 hrs were to verify, then the central plains-Kansas City-Lawrence area-would have some pretty chilly temps. beginning about the 14th-21st. I realize this is the GFS, but this cold has been there in varying degrees for the past 4-5 days. At least it gives me something to hope for and think about-this week looks-accept for Friday-Saturday-pretty warm with rain-pouring here now with temps. in the lower 40's. Iam skeptical-seems the southern part of the territories and Alberta are going to be flooded with Pacific air and we will get the first shot then it is over. Time will tell. Have a great day!!

One more idea-I do think that if this storm pattern holds another month or so-with lows cutting through Northern Oklahoma and Southern Kansas/Missouri, this are could see one or two goo snows-at least on one or 2 of them, we will have some cold air-I can hope can't I???lol!! Of course, I'm just a Latin/History teacher so all my musing are prob. bunk!! Have a great day

Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Afternoon update from DFW NWS hinting now.
302 PM CST SUN DEC 5 2004
....UPPER RIDGE SHOULD BUILD IN QUICKLY BEHIND THURSDAYS SYSTEM AND
BRING DRY CONDITIONS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. GFS IS ADVERTISING A
FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE ON SUNDAY...BUT FOR NOW WILL
ONLY TREND TEMPS DOWN SLIGHTLY.

We will have to wait and see-the NWS in KC and Topeka do not discuss it as of yet-they are so happy with the warm week that is all they can discuss!!!! It just seems that the ridge that builds in (seems to be in reponse to or is it causing it the storm in the East next weekend) late next week begins to shift back further west on Sunday-if that is the case, then some colder air will spill into the plains and then south-only problem, is that it modifies so quickly-here in Lawrence, we are already back close to 50 by Wednesday-the second one by next Friday seems stronger and possibly longer lasting. Other problem, is that it is pretty much dry that whole time-(some time we will have all the pieces together!!) But hey we are tallking the GFS-while it has hinted at this for a while, I still don't really believe it-heck last Friday we were supposed to have significant snow storm this Thursday-now, it will be in the 50's!! If the Euro really jumps on for Monday and then Friday of next week and some cold sticks around in North Dakota (it is cold up there now) then maybe it will verify. At least we have something to discuss lol!!!!
