I am somewhat flattered to have been mentioned in that article. I am just glad that I was able to help out during the terrible hurricane in any way that I was able to do.

I would also like to take the time to credit John Cangialosi as well for his numerous forecasts on Ivan that he made. Without his help, none of this would have been possible

Wow very sad descriptions in that last paragraph of some of the people who lost their lives during this storm. :(

Well deserved. My evac decisions are strongly influenced by Derek's projections.

Was in Pensacola this past weekend and the area has a long way to go before it ever gets back to normal.

By the way, I want to thank Derek also. While following the progress of Ivan I couldn't help but notice his forecast was consistantly more in line with what Ivan was doing than any other forecast I saw. As the storm closed in, the "Official" forecst was saying it would strike west of Moblie bay. However, by then I was able to follow the storm on radar and noticed a wobble to the east. While everyone was saying it would turn back west, Derek came out with a strong advisory that the strom was indeed turning slightly east and would strike east of Moblie. Living in Pensacola area for all my 44 years, and being somewhat of a storm buff, I knew a strike east of Moblie bay would be a worst case for Pensacola. I have friends that kind of rely on me for hurricane information and based on Derek's forcast I called the people I knew and told them we were in for the worst. A couple of these told me that based on that warning they were able to buy additional supplies that were huge after the storm when you could not get ANYTHING. I also had another friend that moved from his moblie home to safer shelter. While his home did not blow away during Ivan, you would not have wanted to be there as three trees fell on it. These people thanked me for the warning and I told them it was thanks to "this guy on the internet" That "guy" was Derek and there are several people here in Pensacola that would like to thank you.

I want to thank Derek also because he sure was the one who had the best tracking for the hurricanes. Thanks Derek!
