Thanks Bill! I still do not like her use of the phrase "OT Jews"

How would you prefer I use it? As a practicing Jew, I'm struggling to see how what I said bothered you.

I've heard that the term "Jew" gets overused in a bad way and with a bad tone, so a lot of us who don't practice Judaism aren't always sure when to use it or who is offended by it and who isn't.

Can someone suggest a reasonable alternative?

"He's Jewish" as opposed to "He's a Jew," maybe?

Most people say, "He's Catholic," "He's Baptist," or "He's Lutheran" as opposed to "He's a Catholic," "He's a Baptist," or "He's a Lutheran." Otherwise, it sounds like the person being described is singled out for that one characteristic -- like a Nazi selecting soon-to-be prisoners from a crowd.

JMO

A person doesn't have to be of a particular race, religion, sexual preference, or whatever to be offended by a term, right?
