Christmas cards for our soldiers

#1 Postby sunny » Thu Dec 02, 2004 2:14 pm

A group of us here at work want to make sure that our troops know people are thinking of them, ESPECIALLY now. We are collecting names and addresses to send Christmas cards to our troops overseas. If you'd care to share information on someone you may have serving our country, we would love to send them a card. Just send me the info. It is now taking about three weeks for mail to reach them, so the sooner the better!

sunny and all,

There is a colege-sponsored website http://www.manhattanville.edu that is sponsoring a "Pen Pal to a Soldier" campaign, as presented on FoxNews' "Fox & Friends" this morning...I've already signed up, and I encourage all interested to investigate it for yourselves. :D

I was just going to ask if anyone had gotten an e-mail yet after signing up. I have yet to receive any type of communication after signing up. What day did you sign up Streetsoldier? I realize they're probably busy but am wondering if everything went through ok after sending the form online.

Taz,

In the E-mail, they said that the "kits" were going to be late, as they have had an overwhelming amount of people signing in...so, they sent me the address of a contact person (not necessarily "my soldier", but someone who will identify soldiers in dire need who want to participate).

Instructions also came with the message as to how to send the first letter/small package, what one can/cannot send, and how to best get your letter/package to the soldier by Christmas.

I'm sending a "Dear Soldier" letter with a DVD ("Shrek 2") and my E-addy Friday by Priority Mail, so he/she will hear from me on or before the holidays. :larrow:

Check your inboxes!

:D :D :D I just today got my contact address via e-mail from My Soldier. Since they said it's best to send a package by the 11th and today is the 11th I won't be able to get one in the mail until Monday. I'll just hope for the best.

Well, no "Shrek 2" DVDs available; besides, I missed the deadline!

SO...I sent "my soldier" a phone card...somethng he/she will DEFINITELY want and use...along with a Christmas card and my letter.

If you guys will permit me to throw something out there. My nephew is home on leave from Iraq, he leaves to go back this Sunday. When I saw how sunburnt his face was, I almost fell out. Apparently, the military issued sunscreen doesn't work very well, so I bought him a good sunscreen, waterproof and sweatproof, as well as lip balm. Just something you might want to consider if you decide to put together a "care package".
