If it gets this cold, my mother will cry. She has worked so hard on her garden. The eggplants still are bearing fruit as well as the cherry tomatoes. All of the lettuce, mustards and turnips will surely die. I love the cold, but I noticed yesterday that my ankles refused to bend. I was walking flat footed. My poor tendons froze up and didn't thaw til I had the temp in the house at 78 with two pairs of sock, fuzzy slippers, and a blanket wrapped around my legs.

Tell your mother that a good freeze in some cases is like a forest fire as far as gettting rid of bad stuff. It will get rid of all the stuff in the air like molds and allergens as well as flees, mosquitos and other criters. Come spring time there will be a noticible difference.
